Top 2 at nationals + standard = 99% guarantee of nomination.
We changed the title of the thread to make it more descriptive and less judgemental. The title was initially "Washed Hoare doesn't make Australian 1500m team."

Hasn’t been a coffee club episode for awhile
Also a bit unusual we didn't see Ollie in the 5th Ave mile yesterday.

Alternatively, you could say it’s entirely consistent - if in doubt, send the NB coached/associates athlete (McSweyn, Thomas) over the other guy (Myers, Hoare).
don't forget Caldwell/Griffith and Weightman/Gregson-Diver(Trengove)
Yep great work there by Nic huh.
Thomas was also collateral damage in all of this - forced into this little contest culminating in a PR 2 weeks before the actual event (aka peaked and now running on fumes). Meanwhile the seasoned vet who thought he was in after running 3.31 and was training for this event on to get "Bideau'd" in the last month and sits at home and watches the Australian trio absolute poop their diapers out there today.
Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oy Oy Oy!
Not a single Australian gets out of the heats, what a bummer all around, would have loved to have seen Olli out there.

Cam took some bad advice and got sucked into the first round race to the least and save the most.
How do you coach a kid to do that? Let them run their finals to get to the final, then learn from a fading 9th in the final and come back stronger.
Never let a kid miss their chance to learn by playing the old man veteran game.
Justice for Olli!
Absolutely pathetic all round today. Nic never peaks his athletes for the actual championships as his goal is to simply get them the singlet and make as much money on the circuit as possible.
I'm not saying Ollie would have definitely made it out of the heats but he would've raced better than the other 3.
I thought McSweyn getting picked in the last Olympics was a low point in Australia selection policy until today. Trials. Please.

I will say Farken did deliver after a long layoff. Olli didn’t have that benefit…could he have rallied? To be fair Farken has looked better all year.
Ollie would’ve made the semis. Bad decisionmaking
