Lyles is a great runner. but he has ridiculously cringe personality. you either see it or you don't.
Most people who regularly watch track are annoyed by him. But if you find his personality to be compatible with yours, that's great. There is a literally a group for everybody. if you can find it.
Don't get me wrong, there is aspects of Noah that I find cringe too. Is that a reason to hate him? Absolutely not. Overall is he good for the sport? 100% yes.
Josh Kerr is also cringe and outspoken. Does he make the 1500m more watchable? Yes yes yes. However, while Kerr makes his taunts on a podcast, Noah has the balls to flex in front of his competitors on the race track, and often win too. I respect that.
I agree that Noah does not fit the typical persona that track fans are used to. That's a track and field problem. Diverse personalities is probably a good thing, as most runners are batsh*t boring. Nico Young...yikes.
i agree with a lot of what you say. not all, but fair statement. also,
it's not ballsy if doing so doesn't have consequences. yesterday was the consequence. that's how it works in the real world.

I don’t know, you kind of do have to give Lyles a shove when you’re coasting through at 17 mph. That is standing your ground. what did you want Kenny B to do? stop in his tracks like a cartoon character? lyles should have stayed in his lane.
Fwiw it looked like Kenny was the one who left his lane & then shoved Lyles. In real time it looked like Noah left his lane but NBC showed a different view when they cut to commercial afterwards. Lyles stared him down at the finish but didn't say anything. Apparently some of this has to do with a twitter account Kenny was running. Lyles has seemingly been getting on the nerves of some track fans lately but this could've been absolutely nothing. The stare down was whatever. Track needs an ounce of personality. This all does take away from 2 really fast times. That's what we should be talking about.
All true. But it got ugly when Kenny gave the shove. He crossed the line. Very tawdry and a display of lack of sportsmanship and impulse control. What's next beyond a shove. He was on a national stage and that is how he conducts himself? That's what 4 years old do when they lose a race/game not paid professionals. He embarrassed himself and made himself and his sponsors look really bad. They should be alarmed by his conduct and put him on notice that further questionable behavior could threaten his $$$. That he will listen to

Both are trash, but at least Kenny is hot.
Most of us or sick of Lyles’s fake persona. Did it need to get physical, probably not. And Kenny was willing to shake and call a truce right away, but Noah of course - missing the spotlight after some time away due to injury - took advantage of the moment.
And still - everyone outshined by a 16 year old 800m runner.
Props to Kenny for not taking the bait from Lewis Johnson to expand on why he was talking to Lyles about his showboating. Shoulda put him in a Sophie Cunningham headlock and told him what's what. But he took the high road.
I'd rather have seen a Will Smith-Chris Rock slap at that point, in either direction.

Lyles behaves exactly as I would expect a physically talented male with no father to behave. Maybe same for Bednarek.
Noah's attempts at getting attention are generally annoying and fake. In the final, they both acted like jackasses. But since it's probably good for the sport, I won't complain.
The shove was unnecessary but I'm fine with it. Lyles has been doing disrespectful stuff for years. About time someone checked him
This is about where I come down. After the stare, Lyles did, in fact, curve in front of him and CONTINUED to eyeball him. Kenny gave him a classic "outta my face" shove. No biggie. Frustration + juvie hijinks = a semi-merited shove.
You literally have to be on drugs. You just completely made up a scenario that didn't happen based on your bias. 👏 👏 👏.
Of course kenny shoved him because lyles stared him down and possibly said something after running him down. You think kenny would have shoved him if lyles hadn't looked at him? You think kenny only did it because he was afraid of crashing into lyles, and that if he didn't do it, they both would've " eat[en] the track?! " Absolute BS. HE DIDN'T LIKE LOSING TO LYLES. HE DIDN'T LIKE LYLES LOOKING AT HIM AND SAYING SOMETHING... SO HE SHOVED HIM OUT OF ANGER.
PERIOD. Then.... When Lyles was like " WTF?! " Kenny rightfully apologized for getting physical.
Your post described an alternate reality that doesn't exist. Congrats for losing all credibility.
I think it happened just as Sal described. Kenny is mild mannered
Pretty clear that "Tyrone" is either his brother Josephus Lyles or Noah Lyles himself. They write like a 12 year old which is about the right maturity and level of intelligence at play.
So someone DESERVES to be assaulted? From the BACK? Unseen from the victim because its from BEHIND them?
Replay, replay, replay. BELIEVE me, this will be REPLAYED all over the next few days (already has been in several areas).
Your recollection is not what happened. And it’s assault, NO ONE deserves that.
So in a race when someone cuts in front of another athlete and they push them to avoid running into them, is this also assault? Does it making a difference if it's in the race or 2 seconds after it? Just checking.
Nope, that's not even remotely close to what happens.
The NBC shot made it kind of look that way (which is why I initially thought what you said), but when you watch the overhead view linked above you see it was completely the opposite.
Lyles did nothing wrong (except be slightly obnoxious, as he often is), and Kenny went WAY out of his way to go straight at Lyles, and then reached out to shove him.
I have no idea what else may have led up to this incident, but as far as what happened at the end of the race, the blame is 100% on Kenny

Nope. Not close to what happened. Watch the overhead vid linked above and you'll realize you have it completely backwards.
Kenny is a little girl. Oh no that mean man looked at me wrong. What normal adult gives a crap if someone gives them a stare. He was just whiney because he lost. Probably needed a nap.

Noah drifted into lane a few seconds after he crossed the finish line. KB crossed TWO lanes to intentionally shove Lyles in the back. It wasn't a hard shove, but it was hard enough that he could have possibly knocked Lyles over and hurt him. It was a straight BS move.

The consequences, or risk rather, is that you lose the race. The consequence for displaying dominance should not being shoved in the back from behind by a sore loser.
