Nuguse shouldn’t have drifted into the second lane.
And should have run through the finish.
Nuguse was tying up - increasingly - the last 70 meters, he was struggling to run a straight line, never mind not being able to hold his form. Stop critiquing him as if either of you have ever raced, never mind having gone all out as he did over a mile. Nuguse shot for the moon and missed. At least he went for it. Kessler dis not and ended up almost coasting the last 50 - 60 meters. Laros woke up and went for it all the last 400 and stunned himself never mind everyone else. He mow KNOWS that he can win big races against the big guns.
Jakob didn´t have a 3:46.94 mile at age 20 BUT......
he had a 3:28.32 in the 1500m which equals a 3:45 low in the mile so Jakob is still faster.
Laros, however, has time to improve further before he turns 21.
Ahem, I have a few disjointed thoughts after seeing a mixed Pre classic edition this year so please step aside all and allow me to air my laundry:
1. I’m positive this has been said before . Nuguse is a man, not a woman of my eyes don’t fail me. The commentators constantly calling him ‘the goose’ is very rude and lewd because the goose is the female gender while gander is male. I understand it’s a pun with Nuguse’s name but given that he has publicly come out as gay then a female imagery ala ‘goose’ aggravates any society’s pre-existing prejudices against gayhood. May I suggest a sort of halfway house to appease all parties by using the term ‘juice’ instead? Nuguse rhymes with Nujuice. The 2nd syllable ends with an ‘s’ sounding for both while preventing untoward views and prejudices against him for being gay. Juice will be a neutral term and shall by no means be taken to means anything odious such as drugs. It’s purely to be used as a pun effect.
2. Nujuice seems to be quite insistent in setting up his feathery bird hand gesture on the start line which has already be taken the wrong way by a few segments of society. Gay people in the prison wards might mistakenly see him as fine game and start harbouring improper lust for him whenever they see him on TV screens. Having Nujuice running circles around the heads of these felonious gay criminals but be bad for them as the sight of Nujuice may keep them salivating continuously and affect their prison lives and other duties.
3. Nujuice had trouble lifting his feet throughout the race. It’s like he was weighed down but glue on the track and he just wasn’t his usual smoother self. He looked stressed on the start line actually and even needed to unbutton his top collar to exhale the stress. As the laps wore on, he tightened up and became and became desperate like some jeslous man is trying to asphyxiate him with his palms. He stalled like Air France 747 stalled over the Atlantic Ocean in 2009. Everyone died on that flight but so did Nujuice in this race. It was painful to watch as my eyes were constantly squinting and looking away. It refused to digest anything that don’t obey the golden ratio 1:1.6. Nujuice stalling blew the ratio off into 1:1600 which basically means Armageddon type of failure. I feel sorry for this chap, sorrier still for his confused partner.
4. Cole Hocker has shown again he has the juice when it matters most and today he just didn’t juiced up enough.
5. Laros is a major talent but he can be quite inconsistent. When he runs he doesn’t fit into the golden ratio as well as Josh Kerr. I would give him 1:1.5.

Nujuice is not a big gun. Big pun yes but no gun. He can’t fired any shots at Kerr or Jakob. He is a dependent not a creator like the other 2. These 2 got the YouTube channel and create lit content for the masses what does Nujuice create? He only creates indecorous notions like drugs and deviant sexuality. Nujuice personality is lackey type but the other 2 are adventurer type. No guesses for who will succeed here.

Ok but conversion tables are just one way of lookin at things. It’s not foolproof. Nothing is better than actually running it in real life. But I like to think Jakob is slightly stronger than Laros and for Laros to get the world record is just as possible because he is only 20. It will take these 2 whole years for him to run 3:42 and 3:25, it’s possible. Holland is a thriving country for health and sport longevity.
I was super impressed by Nuguse going for it but please let's be honest. He didn't have a 3:44 in him "with more even pacing and a less aggressive first half." The proper phrase would be this - "Nuguse might have had a 3:44 in him if he'd been able to suck off of Jakob the whole race."
At 800, Yared was 1:51.4 - that's is 3:44 flat pace. So he went out on 3:44 flat pace and blew up.
He most certainly wasn't sniffing at world record at 1400. At 1200 meters, he was on 3:45.7 pace and he faded off that.
Now, was it possible he got the WR at 1200? Technically, yes. If you take Nuguse's 1st 1200 and then Laros' last 409, you'd barely break the WR. You'd run like 3:42.9.
lol
Nuguse had a 3:44 if Jakob around? Shame on him then. That’s called a lackey, a spineless trinket, if not doper, can’t go it alpine and succeed and need to leech on others energy to achieve success. He is a leecher and been found out just now.
Laros can go faster as well as Goose, with a Jacob to draft off the last 500 m.
so they are not far off 343.
but it was set up pretty good for the Fishers etc.
those 347 miles were hoover where you PR
You talk an imaginary game and know how to cook up so many bias scenarios in which Nujuice always comes out on top. Let me tell you that you are wrong.
If Jakob is there he pulls Nuguse and Habs along and they go 1-2-3 (Laros) 4 Habs with Jakob just missing a world record.
If Jakob was there he'd still have lost. That's a very common trend lately. Can't get any more of his dad's special drugs. Only fools think he is clean. Nuguse ran the race perfectly until his late drift.

Nuguse thought he had it won. He didn't see Laros coming so he eased up on the line. You don't know that he might have had a final lunge in him had he realised.

You can't call Jakob a leecher then; after years of losses in global 1500 finals more a loser.

This is a running thread; not a vehicle for your anti-gay prejudices.
Not sure what is going on for Ollie. I mean 3:51 isn't bad running but doesn't seem to have the fitness or the confidence that he did several years ago. Hope they figure it out as he seems to be a good guy.
Great run. I think Ritz/Nuguse made a slight tactical mistake in chasing the WR as opposed to a 3:44 type time (with a kick). The best shot for the WR will be chasing Jakob. The crazy fast early 1,000 and Yared not gathering there and dropping a sub-14s up front was the only way I could see him losing to Laros. As amazing as Niels is he is not yet comfortable going with the a sub 1:53 halfway pace in a mile. So the gap was going to be there, Yared just needed some gas at the end. It’s all good, though and the main headline of the race to me is Yared is crazy fit, Laris has arrived, Reynold has a mental block, and Hocker/Kessler/Wightman are a bit underwhelming at this point for what we expect.
I'm not buying this only Jakob can push talk. I think he also needs a Nuguse behind him. Nuguse is so similar to Jakob probably being a slightly more fast twitch. Prime Timothy could go for sub 3:30 from the front, habz just did, kerr can push from 8-900 out, laros just kicked well in a 3:45 race, I think Jakob just goes for it the most.

You should actually watch the race - or are your eyes too far gone? Nuguse was in distress the entire final straight. He was slowing down. That happens.
crazy that people were rooting for the american at one of the most prominent american track events. they were also probably in shock by how well Laros finished (and also most people probably didnt even know who he was).
