She also said that David going back out onto the course when he wasn't feeling well was proof of what a good person he is.
It was actually more nauseating and self-serving than that. It was to the effect of:
"Part of being a good human is making smart decisions for your body."
The level of self delusion to think something like that, let alone say it aloud with a microphone is your face knowing thousands of people are listening, is a good summation of why they catch so much flak here and elsewhere (though mostly here).
Like honestly, get the f&ck out of here. Trying to paint your decision to DNF as proof of moral superiority is disgusting. I'll take whatever moral fiber or "good human"-ness is running through Adam Peterman's veins, essentially hiking the second half of the race home to finish in 23 hours over whatever combination of human breast milk and charlatan snake oil piss is running through the Roches.
Or literally any other person who sacked the eff up and finished the race.
I would need to rewatch the live stream to confirm, but I think we are actually talking about two different instances. I'm talking about the interview Megan gave before he took the DNF, but it was obvious his race was done. I think he had hobbled back out onto the course at this point and she said that him going out there to finish, when on a good day he could have won, was proof of what a good person he is. You're saying that, after he officially DNF'd, she again spun it as evidence to what a good person he is?
If you're actually a good person, you don't need to constantly have people telling others that everything you do is evidence of your moral superiority.
I totally agree with you. If he wanted to win Western States, he needed to be on the trails like every day putting in the big miles and vert. Doing speedwork on the track and on the treadmill as a training run for a 100-mile trail race with 25K+ of vert is comical.
I thought he was gonna fall off the treadmill at 31 or whatever after the MFer comment. Megan looks a bit blase and whatever, David at least has some fire to him. He strikes me as a little cocky but I've seen worse...
He repeatedly said that attempting to win was a moonshot. His post openly admits he didn’t have it in the race. Lets give it a rest.
He said a lot, paved the last few months with statements to support any outcome. but that DNF was still the most likely outcome for anyone following this drama.

He talks out of both sides of his mouth. Classic lawyer speak. You could make a series of sound bites making him out to be the most genuine, caring and humble person and another series of sound bites making him out to be a delusional, self-absorbed douche. The guy doesn’t even know who he is anymore. He’s just a whore for Strava kudos deep down.
