Brosnan finally got his pro group

I saw Brosnan at Azusa last night for their last chance meet. He was in conversation with Mike Smith for quite a while, but then I lost sight of him. On my way out, I noticed him talking to who seemed to be another coach. I discreetly tried to check what he was wearing, but couldn't spot any obvious logos or labels. Well, at least none that were noticeable to me.

Mammoth is early 2000’s. There is a reason no one trains up there anymore

While it's undeniably beautiful in Mammoth, it may not be the ideal spot to train full-time as a professional. The amount of snow there is just excessive, which can be challenging. The track is nice, but it's quite far from any regular airport, and I was surprised to see that most of the runs are on the road. When I took my high school team there, it was a bit alarming how many runs were on the road. Additionally, the prices there are pretty unfavorable. Just some things to consider if you're thinking about training there long term.

I have no idea if her parents still live in Hesperia, but Brosnan's wife went high school there so in terms of family....it makes sense if they still are there. It's a hop, skip, and jump down the backside of the San Bernardino Mountains, and you can do it in less than an hour with a little tension on the gas pedal.

It's undoubtedly beneficial for the sport to have more shoe companies involved in the game. Kudos to Skechers for reentering the competition. Hopefully, they have improved their products since the GoRun days from Meb's era.

I gotta wonder if they hijacked an engineer or designer from another company. Or if they are farming out their production to another company until proven they are sustainable in this market. I say this as I have zero knowledge of this business model move, as it seems like a bold one. Heck...I have zero knowledge of the interworkings of the business side of shoe companies.

Are you talking about high schools? If so there have been more than a few nationally ranked teams from So Cal that have held summer camps there.

Haters love to crack jokes and tease Brosnan, but personally, I think it’s just a sign of jealousy. Brosnan may come off as a bit polarizing, but there’s no denying that his coaching is top-notch. He's definitely one of the best distance coaches we've seen. I can't wait to see the individuals he'll bring on board for the new Skechers team. It’s like when ON stepped up and brought on a team. Great for Track!

Noticed that Mia Barnett ran a 4:06 at Drake. Is she a senior? Be interesting to see them together again.

Sean Brosnan and Carlos Handler are the two coaches. Carlos coached a New Balance group back in 2015-2016, and Carlos' wife Brenda Martinez was part. During their time there, Boris Berian achieved a gold medal in the World Championships indoors and also made it as a finalist in the Olympics 800m. And of course Brenda had more success herself training in Big Bear.

Meb loved Mammoth but place like Flagstaff make Mammoth look bad as far as places for elites to train. Everyone stopped going to Mammoth.

So, basically this will be Carlos Handler's group and Sean will help out a bit.

So two middle distance runners. One very good when she stayed on her feet, the other a very brief career. Not sure that changes my opinion much.
