Is there anything more desperate and JV sounding than an interviewer asking an athlete how much the crowd helped them when they are in a mostly empty, tiny stadium? Give up the forced narrative that the crowd is soooo amazing and soooo important. The crowd at a full Olympic or WC stadium is one thing, but this another.
I think Ngetich would perform even better if she just focuses on her rhythm and gets herself in a better zone. In all of her Grand Slam performances so far, she takes the race out super fast, but then keeps looking around and drifting to lane two so someone else to take the lead. She has to accept that no one wants to share the lead in a race that has no time incentive. Ngetich is clearly capable of breaking away from the field.
The crowd size can be deceiving. It might be slightly larger or slightly smaller than Kingston but looks fuller due to the much smaller stadium. From an audience perspective, I don't think this meet can be a "success" unless they can nearly fill both sides of the stadium. It is not very big. It looks like it might be about the same size as the Edwin Moses meet in Atlanta last year but the stadium was much larger there.

Would you agree a 7pm start time would have helped?
Maybe more people will show up as the event goes on?
Arop ran a 4 second PR and was in it. The 1500m guys need to rethink this slow opening. Arop is coming next meet and following, they better run his legs out because he is coming. I know he faded but I was very impressed. Idk if anyone his size has run a 3:35 before.
Is this the year Melissa Jefferson-Wooden wins gold? She’s been overshadowed by Sha’Carri, but she’s a big talent in her own right and she’s started off really well this year. She’s only 24 and appears to be entering her prime.
Is Grand Slam Track unaware Trump won??There is zero reason for wokester Chris Chavez to be commenting on a meet. He is a nobody, and his magazine sucks.
