THREADS LIKE THIS HAVE NO PURPOSE OTHER THAN TO GIVE TROLLS A MEANS OF THROWING MUD AT OTHER RUNNERS AND SHOULD BE DELETED. THIS IS EXACTLY THE TYPE OF THRED THAT DEFINES THIS WEBSITE AND WHY THE LRC OWNERS ARE AMONG THE MOST DISLIKED PEOPLE IN THE RUNNING WORLD.
I like Shorter from afar but he's on this list for being some kind of character.
some people are terrible competitors and reasonable people outside competition.
i used to swing my elbows wide in original style for track, not basketball and soccer, and was farm strong so it was going to hurt, always got room, nobody complained, it was a good tactic, but maybe a big jerk tactic.
I sense a lot of recency bias, so I'll add Ben Johnson to the list. That guy got a lot of hate.
Honestly, I always felt kinda bad for Johnson. Dude clearly wasn't a brainiac. I felt like he was taken advantage of a lot. I know that doesn't absolve him of cheating and he almost certainly knew he was cheating. He just ended up being the fall guy for a whole generation of elite sprinters.

my coach who talked with Charlie Francis said every athlete in the field was roid max, including Lewis who was clean earlier.
and I believe Ben "tested" positive for Stanozololand not the metabolite, which is impossible, so the sample was tampered directly.
also you stop steroid use 3 weeks out, as you are faster with the break ...
and Charlie Francis was state of the art PED guy, competiting with East Europe, so Ben being the only guy to test positive in a PED field, does not add up.
more logically, and people do weird things, is that Ben was set up.
finally Ben's defense was ya, I took steroids but not when they tested me, doesn't strike me as a cold calculated liar, ie. burritos, had sex 5 times, etc.
Lindford Christie just about threw up, when he got upgraded to silver, saying it's a loser medal, stopping short of saying the whole PED thing was a farce, in that everyone was obviously and nearly openly on roids.
Salvitore Antibo hated him so much that he ran a 10,000, where Skah was targeting the WR, with the express purpose of interfering with Skah so he wouldn't get the record. It worked. One of the craziest races ever run.

Antibo was a mentalist as well though.
Some of the most erratic running you'll ever see if you watch any Euro or World Champs 10,000s between 1987 and 1992.
