Actually, I’m tiring of both of their antics. Long gone are the days when elite runners in the same events quietly and tactfully measured one another, at the best saying little about one another, at the worst giving a back handed compliment. These Genz Z self absorbed motormouths can’t keep their mouths shut. Get on the track and just run. Because in a few years you will be a footnote.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen will probably still be setting world records and winning in a few years, actually.
Nah not gonna happen. Are you a Physicist? If you aren’t your judgments are not going to be as reliable as mine which says Jakob CANT and CANNOT!
"...A deer on ice" lol what does that even mean. Not even clever. I guess he meant something like a deer in headlights but just think the phrase he tried to create was corny.

True, best comment of the thread. I feel like a de facto moderator assessing the quality and accuracy of each comment and post in space and time. I do reprise this job role really well actually. But the problem comes when who will assess my comments then? Somebody better and greater than me could only do that but there is none so far on LRC!
LRC note. Jakob is a 2-time world outdoor champion (2022 and 2023 5000) and a 2-time Olympic champion (2021 1500, 2024 5000). Kerr's world titles came outdoors in the 1500 in 2023 and indoors in the 3000 in 2024. So Jakob has won twice as many overall global titles as Kerr and 4 times as many if you only count outdoors.
The quote was about non paced races not Olympic titles. Kerr isn't wrong
How many non paced races has Kerr won since 2021 including that year. Then, tell me how many non paced races Jakob has won.
Not a lot on both sides actually. But that’s the thing about space and time! The beauty about space and time is in its dynamic interlocking evolving wave nature.
Kerr knows the 1500m has evolved from 2021 to 2024 and worldly events and crises have had a moderating effect on the 1500m high performance spectrum so when he digs Jakob for not winning non paced races he always takes them from recent enough memory like Pretontaine 2024, Budapest 2023, Eugene 2022 and world indoors 2022. 5 is a lot! He didn’t eat 5 hamburgers but lost 5 gold medals!!
Kerr is legitimately referring to championship style non paced races and not non championship non paced races.
Everybody knows I’m arguably the best commenter ever on LRC! 🤩

You are not focused here dude. We are talking only about 1500m and not 5000m get it? We don’t care about the world titles in the 5000m.
As far as accomplishment, performance, record, and PRs are concerned, it's a no brainer.
But taking a deeper dive and expanding the scope of the question to who's had a better experience both career and life lived it is not so clear cut.
That is actually very good point... Would you rather have the "whole life" of Kerr or of Jakob?
But for 99% of us, that was not what the question was. It was which runner would you rather be. The answer is Jakob.
I disagree for most of us over in Britain, and France, we wanna be like Josh Kerr don’t you get it? I think the same for the rest of Europe and Canada and Oceania.
Both Kerr and Ingebrigsten should have said, “ I don’t know why we’re trash taking each other. Cole Hocker won the Olympic gold and we didn’t. “
I had told you not to mention the name Shocker anywhere on this clean and respectable LRC forum didn’t I?! This name is synonymous with shame and deceit!
How many times do you think we will see Jakob and Kerr face off this (outdoor) season?
I'm guessing 1 to 3 times
Tokyo in september is obvious, besides that one or maybe two DL races?
2019: One face off
2020: Zero face offs
2021: One face off
2022: Three face offs
2023: Three face offs
2024: Three face offs
I love your posts because you always post the actual times and results, something missing in a lot of posts here.
Please don’t insult the rest of us savants on the thread. You don’t need to post obsessively objective data to find them meaningful and insightful. Meaning and insight can come in many different ways including but not limited to giving you a kiss or a hug!!
Nothing Kerr says about racing will ever be taken seriously by anyone when he, by his own admission, says winning the European championships wouldn't mean anything to him when Jakob always races it.

Kerr isn't as interested in the minor titles as Ingebrigtsen is. They are the only ones Jakob can now win over the 1500.

They don't like to acknowledge what Kerr what actually talking about 😂.
That's ok though because his criticism is true and Jakob will keep losing golds until it is acknowledged regardless of the message board cope.

Indeed, he's only concerned about money, that's why he's signing up for the GST. But when you're talking a big talk about wanting to race the best then you probably shouldn't avoid the races where the best compete.

The WC and the Olympics and Prefontaine are where the best compete. They obviously don't compete in the Euros or Jakob wouldn't win.

I'm talking about matching up with Jakob in the Euros, not the strength of the entire field. If you have a problem with what Kerr said then you should take it up with him, because he says he signed up for the cash grab league GST because he "wants to race the best", but also that it wouldn't mean anything to win the competition that his biggest rival always races.

I think the Pre quips a joke? Jakob had won 3 in a row before last year. The Worlds/Olympics of course is the meet where you know everyone will be there. Next up is DL Final which some may skip then down to the more prestigious DLs like Pre where it’s hit or miss
It’s the harsh truth but you are not wrong that at 3 in a row losses trying to execute a front running playbook you can say he can’t be expected to win the ultimate unpaced championship race. He can win in this fashion vs. all but the very very best.
It’d be unfair to say that Jakob is worth being mocked a la the Buffalo Bills of the 80s, he is a champion just at an event (5000) he’s either better-suited for, or just approaches more realistically when it comes to tactics. So I think you go too far in that regard.

I think you're right that Kerr was referring to only global championship 1500m races when talking about Jakob's results the past few years in non-paced races. But even if we limit the scope of conversation to just those events, were Jakob's tactics really that bad, or was he choosing the strategy that he reasonably thought gave him the best chance to win?
Looking at the Paris Olympics, I'd say his tactics were sound. Maybe his execution could have been better (he himself said he pushed a tad too much in the middle of the race), but I think taking it from the gun and burning off the kickers was his best chance to win. After winning Monaco by nearly 2 full seconds (1.98), he had good reason to believe his fitness was far superior to everyone else's, so it made sense for him to leverage that.

The best compete where Jakob compete, since he have the most titles and the best times. And pre...?Might want to check who has won there the last years.
