I don't think they are missing any of their top 7 from last fall, but Boise is hard to get a read on because they have so much depth.

I don't think they are missing anyone, but Ruthie Sullivan has only raced once this year (the 5:38 mark, she ran 5:32 last year)

The district unfortunately drops off very badly after these teams. It's also really hard to project girls teams going forward since freshman girls can have such huge impacts right away.
The top freshman girls at the Boise City meet appear to be going to Boise, Timberline, Timberline, Boise, Timberline, Boise, Boise, Capital, Boise, Boise. Top West Ada girls appear to be going to Centennial, Mountain View, Owyhee, Mountain View, Mountain View, Rocky, Rocky, Eagle, Mountain View, Rocky Mountain.
Mountain View and Boise certainly look to be the biggest beneficiaries of the next class.

How crazy is it that it might take a sub 5min performance to make state out of district 3 for the girls? A healthy Orme and a rising Emme Hamm really add some crazy depth to district 3.

Koda VanDahlen is going to be a problem in XC - 4:20 at Bandanna in the rain with heavy wind.

Rocky now has 3 girls sub 11 for 3200 - Heemeyer 10:46, Thompson 10:54, Hom 10:57. They could realistically score 20 points in this event at state.

Heemeyer, Taylor, and Hamm in the girls elite mile. Both Cervi Skinners, Stadtlander, and Lucas in the men's elite mile.

I know that Boise had 2 sub 11 girls back in 2019 after getting 10th at NXN. Are there any other teams that have had multiple sub 11's?

At this point, the only boys missing that move the needle for any teams are James Anderson of Eagle (10:04 last year, 9:59 in Eagle's Hoka) and Jack Davis of Rocky (10:14 last year, 10:02 in Rocky's Hoka). Only one mark from above comes from indoor, which is Jackson Porter (Eagle) at 9:54 at Simplot. He hasn't raced in a few weeks and wasn't looking good before that.

All of the marks are marks recorded in 2025.

Where did Jeremiah Petersen come from? 19:03 to open his junior year of cross country and ended the year with 17:20. He ran 4:22 yesterday. He has no results prior to this year, including in other states.

Alright let's hear some predictions for State qualifiers from District 3. Here's the meet program. Top 4 Relays auto qualify (likely the 5th place relay will get in as the at-large based on time) and Top 10 individuals make state (with a possible at-large depending how fast the 11th finisher runs compared to the other Districts, at large position).

No Heemeyer in the 3200?

There are 3 freshman girls who have a realistic chance at state in the 3200, especially with Heemeyer out, Paisley will probably make it tactical for 5-6 laps and bust it open, I imagine we'll see some dark horses to quality, I'm cheering for the freshman.

For boys, Stadtlander, Sheesley, Knutsen, Danahue, and Thomas are the only locks in my mind. Tuft, Jones, Burdick, Jensen, Taggart should be the main contenders to get the other spots. Dark horses are Culpepper and Goggins, as both were injured early season and are getting back into it.

A Google search for “Jeremiah Petersen Eagle” makes it seem like he was a basketball player prior to this year.

I’m surprised VandAhlen isn’t running the 3200. Mountain View must be thinking they can win the 4x8.

With the 3200 split into 2 heats, it would be hard for anyone to qualify out of the second heat unless someone is really willing to push the pace early. Even then, the first heat would really need to drag for all ten qualifiers to not come out of it.

Boise on the boys side. Mt. View scores too many points in sprints and relays and is pretty easily 2nd.

Capital for the girls and Rocky. Rocky isn't running a 4x100 or 4x200. They are projected to score zero points in hurdles, 18 points in the sprints, 25 in the jumps, and 12 in the throws. Mt. View is projected to score zero points in hurdles, 26 in the sprints, 34 in the jumps, and 24 in the throws. They should take second in the 4x100 and and win the 4x200. Mountain View isn't going to score in the 4x400, while Rocky is projected to win, so Mt. View have a 37 point advantage heading into the distance races. It's not impossible, but they are projected to score 11 in the 3200 (+9 over Mt. View), 16 in the 1600 (+16), and 18 (+18) in the 800. Only problem is that they it's a lot harder to double or triple in the distance races. Owyhee is also very good. They have points all over the place.

I have an extremely hot take.

Rocky Mountain boys score under 10 points in the events from 100-3200m at the state meet, and they don't trophy. They don't get a single boy on the podium in any distance race.

Boise, Meridian, Mountain View, and Timberline are the trophy teams.
