Plainview ??? Wayland Baptist Athletics has announced that Toby Kirk will step in as the Interim Head Coach of the Pioneer Men's and Women's Track and Field program
I feel somebody big gonna retire after this season that he haven’t heard about yet. We need about 10 dominos to fall in 2025 and shake up this NCAA. Time for the old heads to move on

Wow. What an incredible insight. Good thing we have younger coaches like you who already know everything to finally push out the ones with all of that tired expertise and experience. Can’t wait for some lucky team to have your wisdom based on nothing leading the way!

The jobs are too easy. They will sit in them till they rot.
That’s sad to die having let a job suck the life out of you for years, you don’t even consider retiring and spending more time with your wife and kids/grandkids. You die forgotten in a few weeks cuz you chose your precious job over your family
What if the old coach loves what he does and gets a lot of enjoyment out of it in their lives??? Keeps you active and healthier than just sitting around bored retired. We have summer's to chill and relax with the family more. Our sport works well with this situation and timing. If a coach is successful and enjoys their work, they should stay as long as they want. The have EARNED that right! Not given to them.
Pat Henry? Dennis Shaver? Those are the big ones that are likely the oldest and might be retiring? But again they both seem to be doing well so why walk away from $$ but if they do retire who replaces them? Big shoes to fill and neither has anyone on staff that can fill those shoes

I see your point but I don’t think you got mine. We all know the summers it’s recruiting, enrollment and other obligations to get ready for the next fall. As long as a coach is also valuing his family and putting them first no matter what’s going on at work, sure. But I’ve been around the block long enough to see many families torn apart due to the selfishness of the coach and how he prioritized his time. No you should eventually put that away and stop valuing other ppls kids for your enjoyment and put your values into those closest to you and THEIR enjoyment.
