Oaks is getting one of the best 8th graders in the state, Sterlign White. 4:14 1500m, 9:43 3200m. It doessn't seem like they will be able to compete with Agoura, though, and possibly not Newbury as they look decently strong now.

I do predict a close battle between Jesuit and Matilda Torres. Currently tho, the majority of the Jesuit squad has been plagued by illness and injury (minus Abbott and Alberts). It looks Alfonso Del Torre (Matilda Torres’ number 3) has been running extremely mediocre times from what his 5k or of 15:36 shows. Once they’re healthy tho, they’ll both be deadly and imo will take those two nxn bids.
Looks like Ogilvie and Jakary started racing again, running 4:31 and 4:32 respectively this weekend. They have lots of time to get back to full fitness
I'm surprised that nobody has really mentioned Arnold O Beckman. They had an unfortunate post season, but they showed the nation what potential they had at Clovis, and after looking at their Athletic.net, they have very promising depth to replace their losses, their 2027 class seem to be probably their best class, they've gotten 2 transfers in both past two seasons.

D4 looks pretty desolate after this year aside from Jserra.
Palos Verdes could maybe challenge if they can bring up a good 5th runner. Harvard Westlake returns 6 guys but they are way back.
Don't think any other team has even 3 guys left.
So it was mentioned that Sigworth is returning to Palisades for senior year, but Palos Verdes still returns 4 of their top 6, and also has another 10:02 3200 guy who didn’t run varsity for them last fall.
Foothill Tech is also D4 and they lost 4 varsity guys but still returns 5 guys between 9:38 and 9:50.

Yeah they had some off races when it mattered. Probably peaked to early which is not surprising with a newer coach(something I tend to forget because they are doing so well with no signs of slowing down).
In the girls 3200 open race at Arcadia, freshman Merancio from Buchanan ran a 10:41, beating Guilfoile. She wasn’t in the top 7 for Buchanan last fall, but with her joining, now they have a solid top 5. Buchanan returned 4 of their top 5 from the NXN squad.
Jesuit is on another level I wonder how they stack up nationally.
I think they can make podium at NXN if it isn’t rainy at NXN like the last 2 years, and if they are healthy come NXN 2025.
If not, it wouldn’t be surprising if the top 3 teams are the same as at NXN 2024 (though maybe in a different order) - Niwot, Herriman, American Fork. Herriman & AF always seem to reload no matter how many seniors they lose
Will Newbury Park and / or Ventura boys make it back to state? They didn’t last year but they each only lose two seniors
You need roughly a 16 minute team time average on Mt Sac to safely be in to state in D2. Ventura and NP each only had 1 guy even under 16 minutes at all.
No way they will make it as a team unless they have crazy improvement or transfers. They might get 1 guy in as an individual though.
Wouldn’t be surprising if these teams return to the state meet.
Ventura returns: 9:29/4:26, 9:44/4:28, 9:57, 4:25, but they need to find a 5th. At sections their 5th man ran a 16:43 but it turns out he does volleyball not track in the spring. They also have a bunch of sub-5 freshmen that can maybe step up and close the gap on their top 4.
Newbury Park returns: 4:11, 4:28, 4:29, 4:33, 4:38/9:51, 4:43

Their clear #1 guy on the team last year didn’t score at the state meet due to injury. That can hurt any team

I just noticed I had never entered La Serna in my database. Now that I have, they score 590. Silly that I missed a school less than 20 miles from my house. I feel sure I am missing at least one other school that can score in the 600's. Just too many schools to follow.
If I add Sigworth to Palos Verdes, they are right at the edge of the cutoff with 740, slightly better than the 780 with Palisades, but at those scores 40 points is within the noise factor.
If Sigworth is staying a Palos Verdes, he could be in contention for that individual state championship title. The fastest returner in D4 is Logan Letulle (Miramonte) with a returning time of 15:30, Sigworth ran 15:29. Both to be slightly even in track times but it does seem Letulle is having an alright track season. Just saying, D4 may look cooked but there is potential now with Sigworth in D4.
Alright as in meh. Maybe Letulle peaks more in post season. All I’m saying is Sigworth, by technicality, is the fastest returner in D4 even though he didn’t compete at PV during xc season. Just saying, him and Letulle will battle it out for the D4 individual title
