Hutchins getting injured opened the door and WV almost came through. BYU did have a lot of depth though. Their 6 and 7 passed WV's 5 in the last K.

If you are referring to the post above that called Villanova dominant, well, they were. 7 team titles and 7 individual titles in 10 years, and usually the spread was at least 40-50 points. I would have to go back and look at rosters but I believe all 7 of those teams had at least 2 future Olympians on them (Huber, Rhines, Douma, O'Sullivan, Tollefson).
The word dominant is in the title. You think it means one thing, I think it means something else. We can stop debating the issue now.
For those like me who were OOTL, the reason for this appears to be the two-year mission that 80-90% of BYU male students take. As a result, their players are older on average.

Interesting. Does that also explain all the distance runners BYU sent to the Olympics this last cycle or the women winning?

Multiple transfer that started away from BYU but are Mormon. When they are good enough they move back in. What a system.
The BYU women have had key athletes transfer out as well. Simone Plourde was a huge loss when she transferred to the team up North. 3 of UVU's top 5 at regionals were BYU transfers(Anna Martin, Julie Sumsion, Allie Warner) and Utah State had a former BYU athlete(Ana Weaver).
Just a hunch, but it takes just the right coach to get the best out of his or her athletes, and on exactly the right day, and that day can't be in a training session. Very few coaches have that secret sauce. All the recruiting talent in the world is nullified by a coach that does not have that knack.
