I thought he entered a HM, not a 10k road race. Maybe if he enters a marathon he will run his fastest half before dropping out?
He did. And his split at 10km was 3 seconds faster than the NZ (you know the country?) track record for the distance. Held by the brother of a confirmed doper.
For you that's jogging territory.
Do you think all those Africans who finished in front of him after they dropped him at 10k were impressed that he got a Norwegian record for less than half the distance?

Ingebrigtsen basically ran an all out first 10K. Even though he set a NR and was faster, according to you, than the NZ 10000m track record, the WR for the 10K is 26:24. He has a long way to go before becoming a medal threat in the 10000m.
I've been running for 53 years. My mind says that I can still run 5:00 per mile. My body says I can't.
He is a 24 professional at his peak, not a 58 hobby-jogger. Shouldn't his brain be able to tell him what he is capable of better than what yours? It wasn't the heart that misled him, but his ego.

I don't think it was an all out 10k. At the 9k mark, do you think it's the same when knowing it's 1k left or when knowing there are 12k left? I'm pretty sure in a 10k he could have run sub 27:20. 36 hours after beating the best in the world over 1500m and without specific preparation .
No doubt very close to 27:00 is possible while rested and better prepared.
According to me? You havn't checked?
Who do you think has run this 26:24?
Is that a trick question? Rhonex Kipruto. With the new shoes, a 10K on the road is just as fast as on the track so the road record is a little soft.
The effects of no specific training, a 1500m 36 hours before, a long track season and how much faster he could have run had the race been 10K, is very subjective. I don’t consider his HM to be a data point to project his 10000m potential.

A doper?
But you did use his performance for some estimate.
I watched the stream, it's not that he just completely dropped off the pace at the 10k mark. He completely stopped, hands on knees, out of breath, walked for like a minute, tried to go with the next group, then stopped again, walked etc. He was completely empty.
So probably in a 10k race this day he would have ran maybe 10 seconds faster. Which would be like 27:12-27:17.
When you say "have ran" I instantly disregard anything else you said.
He doesn't do anything to me. But getting a rise out of his absurd fans is always worth it.
He doesn't? You post hundreds of times a week, sometimes over 100 times in a day, day after day, about Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and he doesn't do anything to you? Oh but he does! You waste days of your life writing about him. He doesn't even know you exist.
Josh Kerr ran a 61 on the road as a training run. Very startling to see Jakob so far behind.
EXACTLY SIR!!!!!!!
Please please pleases alright dear folks, there is no real excuse for Jakob to be having an 'asthma attack' as early as 6km into the race off a measly 13:53 5k split seriously???????
What's 36 hours of rest???? Heck Jakob is SUPPOSED to do it with 24 hrs of rest the very next day!!!!! He should be passing 10k 27:27 with ease.
Jacob Kiplimo went through 10k in 27:02 for his 57:31 WR!!!!!!!!!!! Alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please folks!!!!!! Kiplimo then went from 5k-15k in 26:37 alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jakob is 10x more talented than Kiplimo at all distances except cross country!!!!!!!

Seriously? No specific training, 36 friggin hours before, a long track season what the heck is all that??????????????? Big deal??????????????????
Please please please alright wake up your senses alright!!!!!!
You are placing too much emphasis on specific training, 36 hours when you know you should be placing equal weight on TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me spell it for you, it's T.A.L.E.N.T!!!!!!! Do you know what's that sir?????? It precludes 'specific training' and precludes '36 hours'!!!!!! Heck what's 3:30 tell me sir??? Jakob ran his heats and semi-finals in close to 3:30 and came back 36 hours later for the final of the 1500m and less than 24 hours the heats and less than 36 hours again the 5000m final!!!!!!
Guy is an aerobic friggin monster to boot sir!!!!!!!! Please alright!!!!!!! It's insane how you folks shift the goalposts almost instantly when your idol has fallen!!!!

Rhonex has a doping violation.
Yes that's absolutely correct darling!!!! Rhoenex is a doper!!! His record doesn't count.
CORRECT DARLING!!!! I'm dumbfounded how a Jakob is that 'stupid' if he thinks he entered the race thinking he is a 58 runner without feeling like he actually can be one!!!!!
Instead, I believe he wasn't that stupid. He actually intended it goodness gracious!!!!!!! He believed in 58minutes, he believed he was that good, he is mentally rational and knows what he has done in training over 20-21km threshold. He knows he has buffers to push for 58mins!!!!!!
Ultimately he failed and he lost in shocking fashion!!!! It's really unacceptable alright, please folks really!!!!!
How did Kenenisa bekele ran back to back short and long course world XC titles in under 24 hours of rest for 4km and 12km???????????????????? Did you know XC running is 100x harder than flat road running with zero hills and turns????????? Please alright please think folks!!!!
How folks???? Do you know how hard 12km XC is?????? 10km XC is hard enough but guys in the past had to run 12km!!!!!! And he did it with an all out 4km sprint 24 hours earlier!!!!!!! How is Bekele so much more durable than Jakob on bad shoes folks????? Explain!!!!!!!!!
Oh I think I remembered why so:
1. There was much less anthropogenic RFs in 2001-2008 than in 2024
2. Bekele is the real aerobic GOAT and not Jakob!!!!! Jakob just rides his supershoes and illegal track surfaces!!!

50% chance he would drop out of the race. 50% chance he would drop out of the race. 50% chance he would drop out of the race. 50% chance he would drop out of the race. 50% chance he would drop out of the race. 50% chance he would drop out of the race. 50% chance he would drop out of the race. 50% chance he would drop out of the race.
If you didn't see that before, that was kinda a big thing before the race that was said a few times. Clearly he knew there was a good chance he wouldn't finish. I'll say that again. FINISH. Why would he think he'd break the world record you buffoon, he didn't say that was his goal good lord.
He enters a race with the express likelihood of dropping out - like a hobby jogger? The would-be "distance GOAT"? Bullsh*t. Fan excuses never stop.
Forget these losers and irrational fools darling!!!!! I Khamis the RF King and you and Coevett are the 3 most rational thinking and speaking folks that ever existed on LRC!!!!!
We might sound insane to the uninitiated, but we are actually just heads and shoulders above the rest in our respective areas of expertise of knowledge you feeling me darling???
I know for a fact I'm not insane, I'm just very susceptibly knowledgeable, you feeling me???? I know things in space and time and the knowledge drops into my brain at the moment of ripeness!!!!! That's me!!!!! I'm always RIPED!!!!
We are well past the point where letsrun mods should take contact with the old man Armstronglivs caretakers. Inventing stuff to get angry about is a new sad low. Lies, hate, ignorance. He is what he accuses everyone else of.
You don't appear to know this is a site where free speech applies and differing opinions are allowed. That means you will read opinions you don't like from people you don't like. One-eyed fans like you don't get that.
All of that is in your own mind, which you've just projected on to Ingebrigtsen. It's like saying a runner enters 5k and runs flat out for 3k, is gassed and then shuffles home - "to see how their body would respond". Bollocks. I don't think it was his plan to completely exhaust himself by less than half way and then be reduced to a walk, like a hobby jogger. He thought he could go with the best and greatly overestimated his ability.
Do you ever get tired of being an IDIOT?
When the down arrows of your posts consistently and massively outweigh the up arrows, you gotta think "I'm delusional and have zero clue as to what I'm talking about".
Sign off Bro!!!
I don't think so sir!!!!!! Armstrong is my confidante and I can safely vouch for his ethics, morals, knowledge and wisdom. He knows what he is talking about and knows where and when to apply the stress and when to release the brakes!!!!!!!!
Armstrong's instincts on the sport matches my own one, you feeling me sir????? I focus on RF issues while he focuses on drugs in sport!!!!
He did it on basically a whim after a long season during an Olympic year and days after racing a 1500m. He also is specifically peaked and trained for the 1500m-5k distance. He's never even trained for any distance over 5k. I'm not reading into this result very much, especially on tired legs.
Never been trained for any distance longer than 5k??????????????????????????
Are you serious sir???????????? That's one of the worst takes I ever saw in my life alright!!!!!!
Ever heard Ryan Gregon's wisdom of advice??????????
Here's what he roughly said 10-15 years ago:
"To be the best 1500m in the world, you need to have the aerobic capacity of a 10000m runner and that's why I'm running an early/late season 10k. My training is naturally geared towards 5-10k because I need that aerobic capacity to succeed at the 1500m"
I remembered it by rote memory, because he said it both on interview and in magazine publication. I swear he said that and I'm not kidding anybody alright!!!!!!
So you can be extremely sure, that Jakob's IS TRAINING, HAS TRAINED AND WILL CONTINUE TO TRAIN for the 10000m at least if not also the half marathon and up to the half marathon in order to succeed at the 1500m!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Josh Kerr ran a 61 on the road as a training run. Very startling to see Jakob so far behind.
Yes, hope Josh Kerr has cojones enough to attend the European cross country championship in december, and we can see who is behind!
The last time Jakob ran that, in 2022, he smoked Crippa, Katir, Kimeli, Emile Cairess and Schrub to name a few!
LOL!!!!!! You are crazy sir, my darling Kenenisa Bekele the real aerobic monster of old will smoke Jakob and all the rest abovementioned every time!!!!!! Jakob's technique on XC is too clumsy and unstable. His wide armswing leaves too much air pockets flowing through his armpits which increases air resistance lol!!!!!!!!
Stop making me laugh sir alright!!!!! Go see how Bekele swings his arms in XC and how tight and close he carries them to his chest and torso allowing few wind to pass through!!!
