Clearly you don't understand the nature of "Sport" or "Athletics", most likely because you're not an "athlete" or a true "sportsman". That's not meant to be an insult, just a brief observation. The Olympics represent more than competition, and the athletes represent more than just being athletic. Olympians are the best athletes in the world, and each has a life story which defines who they are and WHY they've become the best athletes in the world. I personally am a huge track and field fan and have participated in track and field and enjoy hearing these life stories and about the journey these athletes have taken to achieve this amazing accomplishment to be one of the best athletes on the planet. I recommend you watch 16 Days of Glory-1985 by Bud Greenspan. Maybe it will give you some perspective that being an athlete or sportsman is not just about winning and losing, but also the journey and process.
Enjoy the Games...I am!
Your ramble has nothing to do with anything I said.
Sorry for not being more simplistic for you.
My point is that your post is somewhat shallow and closed minded. Cole expressed his faith in God as a reason for his success, which in turn shows us that he is religious which entails a lot more than just being an Olympic Champion. I didn't read into it too much, and simply thought "Good for him". My beliefs don't come into play at all. I didn't get the feeling that Cole was trying to push his faith on me or anyone else, he simply was expressing what he felt. Whereas your remarks clearly reflected "who cares" what he thinks and believes in, and "who cares" about him as a person. My response to your post was to say, "There is a bigger picture at play here, a small insight as to the "Human" side of one of the best athletes in the world.
Maybe if you opened yourself up a bit and weren't so closed minded you would appreciate some of these amazing athlete's life stories and how they translated into world class success. 16 Days of Glory!!!
