Bit of some argy bargy mean girls vibes from the FTK Road to Paris episode 1 made to public, if they were in Lisa’s situation they would be doing everything they could to justify their selection so I don’t believe that integrity bs
Just had a listen to this. "Mean girls" is too harsh, but they just seem unprepared for even the slightest public analysis of themselves as athletes. Sinead literally said that it was a personal attack to make any reference to her Valencia world record time being in 2022 and potentially too long ago. Crikey. She wouldn't last long as a pro footy player.
It definitely goes to show that running is still very amateur. These girls who are at the top echelon of the sport in Australia have clearly had zero media training and have no self-awareness. Not even their own manager has stepped in and said that they're coming across as total morons on the podcast (probably because he's king moron).
I saw a weird meme on heapsgoodrunners (great account) with the three marathon team girls a while ago. It seemed kind of weird? Couldn’t tell what it was going for and couldn’t tell if it was a shot at the lady who missed the team. Anyone aussies know the one I’m talking about and can explain? Interesting to somewhat follow this from all the way around the world.
Unfortunate situation and sounds like they need much more transparent selection criteria

The running joke is that Sinead is actually behind heapsgood. I have no idea if that's the case, but given the people they usually target, it's almost certainly someone close to/in the MTC circle.
Given the response the 3 selected athletes have had to the process (showing at best a lack of intelligence, at worst a lack of class), and the response from Brett and Joel on FTK (clearly showing both a lack of intelligence and class) - it wouldn't surprise me if heapsgood was taking a shot at Lisa.
While I think there has been some immaturity from both sides (Lisa's husband asking for pictures to be taken down etc.), I think what is annoying people down here is the lack of recognition from Gen/Sinead/Jess that they are coached by current/former AA distance leads, and have direct connections with people on the panel. MTC as a whole seems to think that they deserve special treatment because their group is "the best" in Australia, failing to recognise that they are very much big fish in a small pond.
Many Australians are absolutely classless and show it regularly. This is one of the cases. As for the actual running, Adams will beat Robinson in the marathon. There will be the usual excuses. The Australian women will maybe get one in the top 20. At least 1 will dnf. If Athletics Australa was serious all funding should go to the field events and walks based on results.

I agree about Liam getting Brett - I think MTC have a real tendency to not do well in the big events and I have always thought it's a coaching issue. I also think they do well because of their talent and in spite of their coach , not because of him.

Yep, everytime. The MTC crew have these lucrative Nike contracts yet never deliver on the big events. They’re nobody on the global stage.
The podcast has well and truly confirmed when the women’s marathon is on I now won’t be paying the slightest bit of attention to any of the Australian women.

I’ll be cheering for our girls. I have a problem with AA and the selection process not the athletes.
No doubt there’ll be more chaos when they announce the 1500 teams, the women’s 800 too.

Absolutely classless lol. Can’t argue there, and I’m Aussie. It’s part of our charm.
Anyway if you apply a Kenyan ban/filter which we all should, our ladies are right up there with the best. Go get em!
Off topic here-- but Robbo's strava shows no run for a week. Anyone know if he's in trouble? Jack is (was?) also injured and ended up outside the 5 and 10k quota....

Par for the course. They were both in a similar spot for Tokyo, Brett came 65/75 finishers, Jack was a DNF.
I would love to see Adams break into the top 20 is Paris. The course and weather will be tough so guts and grit might triumph over speed. And then to get the Australian record before he's done with a fine career. Also I think Tiernan, who no one seems to mention, has the potential to take down some scalps as well. Good luck to all.

Out of interest- are they allowed to bring in 'subs' if the marathoners are injured. Remember Jack running Tokyo with a stressie and DNFing after a few km? Not good for the sport.

Andy Buchanan would monster the Paris course....
You’d hope so, but this is AA so the answer is no - especially as Andy isn’t MTC.
