I don't know why but did anyone think Steve Cram was a little underwhelming in his reaction to this time? I mean he gave credit but it didn't seem exciting as this was literally faster than Bekele's run.
Do you think this gives credit to some peoples theories that Jakob can run under 12:35, I mean Gebrihwet closed that fast he had to be in that shape if he had paced it perfectly?
We need to see Jakob run a fast 5,000m, but certainly it seems highly possible. Let’s also note the factors here. Gebrhiwet ran a really last fast 400, but he was essentially paced beautifully for 4,600m through Yihune and Kejelcha which is highly unusual for a world record race.
Feels like Gebrhiwet and Kejelcha have been around forever. I'm pretty sure I saw Hagos race in Boston indoors in 2012 and thought he looked on the older side. Crazy that he is still only ~30 years old.
54.99 last lap of a 12:36…he was obviously capable of running low 12:30s today.
Grijalva and Almgren both with 12:50.xx national records. Should assuage any concerns about Grijalva’s early season form.

Not every race leads me back to thinking about Jakob.
I thought Jakob could run 12:35 give or take last year. I still think he’s one of about 5 guys who could break the 5k WR on a great day with perfect pacing: Jakob, Gebrhi-jet, Kejelcha, Kiplimo, Aregawi.
Can we get some love for kejelcha? All the diamond leagues he is in are SO entertaining because he is so fearless. Imagine crossing 3k at 7:41 and then clicking 60s and 59s. He never has the close to win but honestly I don't care, I don't hold that against him, and I'm still a massive fan. Without him I don't think any of the 12:40 races last year, as well as the DL 3k final, would have happened. Thumbs up if you agree.
Yes. Ingebrigtsen will break the wr if he gives it a try in good conditions. Almgren’s 6 x 6 min and 12 x 1k pace is still quite a bit slower than jakob’s.
