Sinead was the biggest question mark for me from day one; no recent form of fitness. Turned out to be correct.

The problem here is a reserve was ready to go but neither Diver or AA had the integrity to do the right thing. DNF 1.2km into a marathon? This wasn't a minor niggle.

Confirmation bias is strong in the "Aussie" letsrun silo. I use the quote marks, because I'd like to think it's not in the Australian character to actively barrack against their selected athletes. One senses that there's a few here that were, and were delighted when something when wrong.

Nah, I just like to see controversy because it is exciting, Sinead Diver dropping out at 1.2k is definitely going to cause some controversy.

I also kick over the e scooters and e bikes that are available for hire because I have seen pictures of Brett Robinson and Jack Rayner on them, by damaging them, there could be an unfortunate injury.

I agree she probably should've pulled the plug and given the spot up, though you're probably then talking about individuals losing money from sponsors by being on the start line.

We all heard Diver was struggling in the weeks leading up but she earned the right to step on that line if she chose to. Pulling/swapping athletes who aren't showing form all the way up to the race is not the solution because then there's no point in even being selected if it can be taken from you as soon as you don't look like you're top 3.

My point in my post was that all throughout this controversy all I've been reading is how it was a Jess v Lisa selection but the selectors got the Jess call right and now the goal posts have shifted to "Sinead should've dropped out or AA should've pulled her".
