To be fair, when all those older guys were at their peak, they couldn't even beat Carleton and Carleton wasn't a top five with an actual Olympian.
Retweet. Power gets laid into for Logan being faster now but Ricks must be a horrible coach for matt to have this much potential he couldnt do much with.
How does he just sneak under 14 only to become AN OLYMPIAN later. Roy and Gabe have tallent gushing out of their pores and they lose to two guys who started running because there isnt enough snow to skate in May. They were 4:1x athletes in high school and get mobbed in cross by dudes who couldnt break 16:30 in high school
Really good to see Mac choose to focus only on bringing quality in rather than quantity. They may not have the depth of a certain rival, but will spend less time waiting in non-scorers to finish.
D3 thread claims WIAC will put 3 teams ahead of the Oles and 4 ahead of Carleton. MSOE is mentioned ahead of Mac & the Johnnies, which should be considered an insult.
Why are Oles holding out on posting their class when everyone else has? Must be a really bad group.
The D3 thread is majorly discounting Carleton and Macalester. And just outright glazing the WIAC. Saying Stout is more proven than St. Olaf and Carleton is hilarious.
Actually it reads they think La Crosse, Whitewater, & Stout will go 1-3, then Olaf. Then they think Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Eau Claire, & Platteville will be next with Carleton/MSOE fighting for 9/10. Considering a lot of people think Carleton is a top 20 team, the North may have 9 teams qualify for Nationals. Unless those other WIAC schools have made a huge leap, I find it hard to think all of them will have a big three ahead of Gabe, Roy, Indy. And the Rickster will find some magic for his next scorers.
Coach Ricks really creates great experiences for his team. First they do training camp at altitude and then they fly out to Oregon to run against professional athletes and D1’s. He’s less concerned about social media posts and documentaries and more about creating awesome experiences for his athletes.
I would love to see a Dave Ricks documentary. I think there was a small team documentary a few years back, but nothing as big as what Parker did.
And lets get this out of the way, the times at altitude will be slow. Let's not get carried away with trash talk after we run slower than the lightning fast golf course in Collegeville or when Gabe only beats Will Kelly by six seconds. It's all training at that point and Carls always roll late.
Is there an academic-athletic award Will Kelly hasn't won yet? Just saw another posted, this time a national award, sheesh. Either he's way smarter than he races or the pool was thin this year for every single award in the country that he has won. Makes you wonder what's in the water in Northfield.
St. Olaf people, what's the best way to get a hold of Power. A former teammate is going to Olaf this Fall and wants to join the team. He's been unsuccessful in getting replies from any of their coaches.

9 teams? Get real bozo
We might be a good region but there’s no way that 70 guys run a 25 flat average in this joint, even at Carleton in November

Ritual monsters need to be ritual summoned first in order to be special summoned

Ricks rolled
"Potential he couldn't do much with"?
Oh yeah the guy who won 14 of his last 15 races in a Carleton uniform (the only loss being in a relay), won 2 D3 titles by a combined 36 seconds and would have won more if not for Covid, and wasn't remotely challenged in any of his races as a senior. He ran his 13:55 at nationals in a race where second place was 14:10. Don't act like he couldn't have gone significantly faster if literally anyone in D3 had been able to compete with him.
If you look at their Strava group their alumni run way more miles than the current team. He still hasn't figured out the difference between training for the 400 hurdles and cross country. I'm actually glad he doesn't know what he's doing because if they ran mileage like Bowman or others I think they'd be untouchable.
That workout they talked about in the Parker Max opus sure didn't sound low volume. It really just sounded like a dumber version of the Michigan workout. I'm sure he stole that or chat GPT helped him make a "really tough cross country workout."
They don't have any real long distance guys anymore, so it makes sense that mileage is low. Most of the roster thinks they're 1500m runners.
No related to the topic, but the username for me thinking. Is it a stretch to think we could see our first MIAC sub 4 this year? Gabe runs 3:46 as a sophomore. Calvin will have another year of training under his belt and has run 3:46. Tor used to beat Gabe. Maybe the 3 of them could remove the Oles from the MIAC 1500 record books. I think 3:44 is the record.
He’s making fun of the WIAC guys thinking 8 teams are ahead of Carleton. I see an argument for 5-6 North Region teams, but Carleton not racing anyone legitimate out of region doesn’t help their argument.
