is this a joke? Hassan 1:56, 3:51 (front run w no pacing), 29:06, 2:13. and let's not mention the ridic difference in top end speed between the two and performances in actual championship races. not even a tiny bit close!
Ms. Top end speed has lost twice to Tsegay over the last 2 world championships. so yeah not even close
I can't tell if you're still joking. Hassan was a shell of herself in 2022 and not back in peak form in 2023. Hassan, still less than 100%, closed the 5k in 56 seconds in 2023. Tsegay was dropped on the back stretch. Tsegay has never run a final lap faster than 59 seconds iirc, Hassan has run 57 or faster 3-4 times. Tsegay ran 14:12 the year of the Tokyo olympics and was destroyed over the last lap by Hassan (and Obiri). Let's not even start talking about how Tsegay has faired against Kipyegon. She's never once even presented a challenge. Are you new to following women's running??

Leave Kipyegon out of this, she is better than everybody
Tsegay was injured too in Budapest and couldnt close like the rest
but look what she did after..broke a WR
and yes she has closed faster than 59 in Tokyo she closed in 58.xx just like Obiri.
also get your facts right. Tsegay ran 14.12 the first time last year as she flew by Hassan in London at the DL. (She's beaten Hassan at all their 5k meets except in Budapest where she was injured and ran horribly). In Hengelo 2021 it was a 14.13. when she died mid race and still held on hehe
what i'm reading here are excuses, as always heavily favored on Hassan.
Tsegay is faster than her at the middle distances thus far.

Yeah no. Kipyegon was not better than Hassan (overall) from 2019-2021. And I doubt Tsegay was "injured". Truthfully, she's never closed anywhere near that fast and has never given any indication that she's capable of doing so. Again, Tsegay is great at paced time trials. But her world record has nothing to do with closing speed, which is the subject of this convo. Hassan doesn't need excuses, she's proven herself time and time again

I see you've added new stuff. London diamond league was a couple months after Hassan ran a MARATHON. Then a month after that, after sharpening up (and still at less than 100%), Hassan was as fast or faster than Tsegay in terms of closing speed

cue the excuses again
when then is Hassan ever at 100%?
because that's the default setting on this platform when she loses

but she was in 2021, she beat her in every race except in Florence
in 2020 we don't really know because they never raced each other
all i know is that FK almost broke the 1k WR that year
while Hassan dropped out of the 5k in Monaco
In 2019 I will agree Hassan was better ..but again they only raced once

Are you... wow. How about when they both raced at 100% at 5000 in 2021? I've mentioned this multiple times. This convo is over until Tsegay closes a single race in 56. Actually, even 57 will suffice - I'm feeling generous. When that happens, feel free to respond.

Hassan broke the 10k WR then beat Kipyegon a couple days later. You are so deluded about this. Wow
Gudaf Tsegay has some serious range, possibly even better than Hassan. 3:50 1500m, 5000m WR and 29:29 10000m
is this a joke? Hassan 1:56, 3:51 (front run w no pacing), 29:06, 2:13. and let's not mention the ridic difference in top end speed between the two and performances in actual championship races. not even a tiny bit close!
Tsegay, for me, is an upgraded Gidey. Great time trialer with a relatively inferior kick
You’re right that Hassan has shown better range, but you’re wrong to knock Tsegay’s championship performances. Over the last two outdoor world championships, Tsegay has won 2 gold medals. Hassan hasn’t won any gold medals in that span.
As for Tsegay being an “upgraded Gidey”, that’s a strange descriptor considering Tsegay is older. They also have different strengths. Gidey could never run 1:57 and 3:50, and it remains to be seen if Tsegay can run 1:02 and 2:16.
Awesome 1500 in Kenya. Reynold Cheruiyot goes deep to the well to win in 3:31.96 at altitude despite pacing it all over the pace 54/59/58/40. Komen big PB in 3:32.2, nice run from Munguti in 3rd in 3:33.79 and Keter who was aggressive holds on for 3:34. Many of these guys will be in LA where we could see multiple 3:29s.

you keep shifting goal posts
FIRST, the argument was on range when OP said Gudaf has similar or better range.
she does.! she's faster over the 1500, 3K and 5K
THEN you said she'd never closed faster than 59.
She has (Tokyo 2020).
NOW you want me to holler if she closes in 56
I might lol, with the way she keeps improving her PBs
Yeah strong run from Masai who along with Kwemoi and Kiplangat are expected back in Suzhou next week.
Nobeoka Golden Games in early May announced the fast heat being paced to 12:50, hoping guys like Etir, Kibathi Wanjiru, even Krop will be there
Great note Will. That’s a cool prospect for the Japan-based Kenyans. In Suzhou, hoping for better conditions. I think Kwemoi can go faster, he got caught in the front then fell back but kicked well. I think we can say Kipkorir is pretty much back to ‘21-22 form. Kiplangat not his strongest day but gets the Q, maybe he’ll go better next one. Road to Records also should be lightning quick.

The one shifting goal posts is you. The topic was range and top end speed. You haven't stuck to either. You are one of the most deluded posters on this site to suggest 1:56 to 2:13 is somehow inferior to 3:50 and 14:00 in terms of RANGE. Please look up the definition of that word. An 800m is over 50 times shorter than a marathon. A 1500 is a bit less than a third of a 5000. This is elementary school level reason you are incapable of on this issue. In terms of range, based on actual results, not what "might" happen, there is absolutely no contest. In terms of closing speed, based on actual results, there is no contest. Tsegay ran far slower closing lap than Hassan has to win in 2022 despite an unremarkable overall time. Look at the numbers, they do not lie. You, however, do.
