While she didn't get the standard, this looks very promising for Valby's future. I was skeptical at first if all that cross training would work in a 10k, and tonight she proved her capabilities. With pros and pacing lights, she'll definitely get there
great race but can't help but think how much better she would have done at The Ten. pace lights and pros doing the work up front. she could've broken 30, easily gotten the Olympic standard.
It is a joke that she has to try to qualify for the Olympics in a race where the 2nd fastest finisher is literally more than 2 minutes behind her. Sucks that she has to do all that work alone.

She could not have broken 30. That’s too much.
agreed she had a pacer though 15:30 tried to accelerate more but could not maintain so 15:20. I think she was real close to 6:00 from 5000 to 7000.

ok maybe 30 is a reach, but definitely would have gotten the standard.

Sub-31 is cool, but the standard is 30:40. It kinda looks like that’s what she was hoping for.
Yeah they announced that at the start of the race. I wonder why they did not go for it at the TEN instead.
This might be the downside to parkers cross training. A 1.5k and 5k and a 10k in a single week is way more running intensity than her body can likely handle.

Parker exactly 15:30 at 5k . . . and now on her own
15:30 then 15:20.
Excellent slight-negative split . . . if you are targeting a sub-31.
However, having the rabbit go out in 15:25 (74.00/lap) then soloing a negative-split 15:12.5 (73.00/lap) would have been the ideal strategy to get the 30:40 Paris Q.
I meannnnnnn that just didn't look right, how is she running sub 31 in college?! Sorry but it's kind of ruining the sport for the people who are still running really fast for college without "aid."

Yes, a pacer running 15:25 for the first 5k would have been better. They should have called Elizabeth Leachman.
