I'm one of those women who can run around 19.30 on a good day. That means I can win my local park run occasionally. I also live in an area where there just aren't that many races within 90 minutes - 2 hours drive. So park run is very much a race for our local fastest female runners. Its like if you allowed cyclists into park run. You might be a man who can run 16.45 and win, but how would you feel if you were beaten by a guy on a bike? What about a scooter?
Stop telling women what to think. You aren't a woman, and you have no clue about what motivates women or even the fact that we are all different. Our local park run is very much a race, or at least it is amongst us women. I don't want some 50 year old man getting recorded as first woman over the line because he identifies as a woman for the purpose of getting a first place finish recorded against his name, or because he's twice my size and does'nt have to put up with the threat of being followed or sexually assaulted while he's out training and has to fit all his runs into his lunch break from work in order to stay safe.

I'm not sure which country you are writing about but regardless, 19.30 simply isn't worth posting about or getting worked up about. It isn't just the time, the fact is that 95% of the women behind you weren't racing so the fact that you "beat" a tiny number isn't the point. I'd say exactly the same thing if you were a guy too. Do a proper race.
If you want to argue further, the fastest female time at my local last week was 21 minutes. Do you think she should claim to have "won a race"?

I'm a 46 year old woman. Its fast enough to be winning a local park run occasionally. My pb is actually 17.37.
Admittedly, if I had been born a man and were the same age, it wouldn't be that fast. Unless I declared myself to be a woman.

You're free to race anyone at parkrun, but that doesn't mean parkrun has to recognise you having won your race. You get a t-shirt for how many parkruns you finish, not how many times you finished first.

Your 19:30 - Do you not realise that the course is slightly different each week and set up by volunteers so potentialy was 20:01 over the correct distance and not a PB?

I do worry that parkrun will cut their nose off to spite their face in this ongoing saga and remove the runbritain submissions, as I imagine there might be some form of unresolved conflict here if athletes are strictly within their biological categories for most ranking-eligible races whilst parkrun freely allow/encourage these categories to be broken. I think rather than address that they'll just delete the submissions and everyone will (undeservedly) blame Mara for actually pointing out the issue.

you can take any number of park run records as they dont mean anything. Literally nobody cares bar people who are quite clearly mental. its 3 times and one of them is in wales on a course that barely anyone wants to run.
Your not being told as a woman your placing is irrelevant. your being told that as a HUMAN the organsiers dont set this community fun run up so that you can compare yourself to others.

Its just a construct of peoples minds. It never was, people can consider it a race but i can also consider a horse to be a goat. It does not make it win the Grand National

I think if an organisation submits its results to the UK's elite athletic ranking systems, measures all of its courses with professional surveyors' wheels, and actively celebrates elite/record breaking times at their events (see their tweet here: ) then that organisation puts on races, without any doubt whatsoever.

Parkrun can just tell UKA to take a jump and they have no jurisdiction. What sanction could UKA possibly apply? Worst case they 'unrecognise' times but that would have no impact, any elite runner will run proper races and if non-elite then it doesn't matter anyway.

I think i said the first finisher was in that time. He had a big german Shepard Dog and it wasent even his dog. Iv never been a first finisher in a park run and only ran around 15:40 -
But you didnt answer the question - The dog pulled him round especially on the home stretch where he got about 20 seconds on me. Should i be able to complain about that? Was that tall skinny black guy last week east african and pumped full of EPO? He beat me! surely they should drugs test!

In genuine proper sporting events im all for defending the rights of women. But a Park run course record is not even a thing really. Its like a side show that when people got upset about they removed. And because people got upset about it they think they want to protest.
