Myhre trains somewhat often with the ingebrigtsen brothers. I’m not surprised to see him running so well. I think Norwegians in general do well in difficult conditions like today given a childhood (generally speaking) of being outside in most all conditions.
How incredible for Myhre. He was a 13:27 runner last year (in 2022) and 13:38 the year before that !!!!
Sure, but he’s pretty young. His progression is pretty typical, more typical than being a teenage superstar like Jakob or Laros.
By age:
19 - 13:56
20 - 13:38
21 - 13:27
22 - 28:02
23 - 13:09
Already faster at 5k than Filip and Henrik, and #4 AT Norwegian behind Jakob, Nordas and Bakken.
Schrub's recent's relative jump in performance could be explained by the fact that he was a full time Med Student until this year and now is focusing only on running as a pro.
Meaning his past performances and solid results at the Euro & World level happened while being a full time Med School Student (super impressive) on incredible work-ethic and life balance.
Full time running but feel like a lot of recovery time available for him now.
Excited to see what comes next for him on this Olympics year. Probably not a first-class contender but he might get some serious scalps

So,so glad Yann became the European XC champ. Big congrats! 👏He has really shown you can run great performances on relativelly low mileage. He was told to train 4-5 sessions per week when he ran sub 28 at 10000m and took the bronze in last European Champs .🇸🇪🧙🏼♂️🇸🇪

You may be right. I was linking his win solely to the fact that he probably does well in the mud. Maybe it’s more than that. Maybe he has stepped it up. We will see when he gets on the track.
isnt he still the fourth member of their training group? When he was interviewed in the podcast - ”i det lange löp” he was speaking about how tired he had been trying to adapt to their training (specifically running at 3:40 m/km pace on easy runs)
3:40 per km on easy runs!? I thought they reportedly ran much easier than that. I’m guessing the podcast is in Norwegian though

Did you read the post you replied to? Yann has upped his mileage like he said he would do. He is not doing relativelly low mileage anymore.

Does US XC ever look like this looked like yesterday? My UK experience of XC is that it is *always* like that, and in some sections the mud looked relatively tame compared to courses we run on regularly. Whereas US XC looks like golf courses / grass track running.
Just curious if the mud fest style of XC ever makes it out of Europe?

Did you read my post? Yann still ran just 4-5 sessions per week when he ran sub 28 and took the bronze at EC 10000m.

3:40 pace is very close to Jakob's most effective easy steady pace.No junk mlleage .
