What's the most difficult state to qualify for state in Cross Country and why?

    In NY on the girls side, Bethlehem, Shen, and Saratoga finished in the top 3 in this order at both the state qualifying meet and the NXN qualifying meet, and only one of them got to race at the state meet because they are all in the same section. Bethlehem and Shen took 5th and 17th respectively at NXN. Saratoga didn’t make NXN

    Wouldn’t be surprising if Bethlehem, Shen, and Saratoga are top 3 in NY next year again. And again, only one of them will get to race at the state meet because they are all in the same section.

    Are there any other states where in XC only one team from each section goes to the state meet?

    If not, NY is the toughest one

    In some states, they call the state meet “States”.

    In other states, they call the state meet “State”.
