What are the chance Wiley gets a major shoe contract?

This morning's Fast Women newsletter has an excellent summary of this entire situation, including the sponsorship angle. The last sentence sadly echoes what many have been saying all along:

"Wiley has been through more than any teenager should have to, and some of the adults in her life have really let her down."

But that won't last long. Wiley has become world class. Tuohy will turn pro and then people will quickly lose interest in a 15 minute pro runner competing in 2bd tier meets.

Read the police reports and the accusations filed by the abused. You won't care about the doping allegations as much as everything else you'll read.

Thanks for mentioning this: that is a sober read that sums up my personal reaction.

But in a few weeks Wiley will no longer be a teenager. She is old enough now to make her own decisions. For better or worse, I bet she decides to stay in Huntington and keep Lauren Johnson as her coach.

The ridiculous assumptions and looking-down-the-nose by thousands of people, especially journalists, who think they know best but couldn't do 1/1000th of what Wiley's done is likely among the worst of what she has been through

It is true, AW has made mistakes (like the one I mentioned earlier). She was pretty young at the time, and I think she’s learned from them, but she’s human and will make other mistakes.
