I feel like 1:55 is like 1:40 for a man. It's impossible without being doped to the gills (East Germans) or DSD.
No I think 1.54.0 is like 1.41.0 for a dude. It's not impossible run the most efficient way. In the past with no wavelight it seemed impossible for women in particular to get it right. To kind of back that up we saw tonight how difficult it still seems for them to get it right even with wavelight because that was one of the most unnecessarily stupid race executions there from Goule-Toppin I've ever seen.
"Hey here's a pacemaker for you that will run perfect splits and give you an energy cost saving".... "No thanks I'd rather go out too hard and have no help at all".
Good experience for Hocker but 9th place. He really hasn’t shown he can run with the big boys at the top.
5 of the 8 guys in front of him fared worse at Worlds/weren’t even there. Yes the top 3 today are at a higher level than him.
All things considered, Hocker has been doing fantastic this summer so soon after recovering from his injury and with such little training. I didn’t think he was going to manage to break 3:34. Instead he’s 7th at worlds and running DL races. If he can just stay continuously healthy until Paris🤞🤞
Pretty silly race by Goule and others. Going ahead at the pacemaker then running completely out of steam.
Nice to see Laura looking back on form. A very well paced run - she has a strong finish and doesn’t get caught up in the early silliness. Just moves adeptly through the pack. Hope this gives her a bit of confidence.
There's a good chance Ramsden inadvertently sabotaged this for Kerr. Tough times.
Well I will say this - the meet won't be paying him anything for that effort.
I mean he was the second pacer so they were hoping for something like 2.19.5 at 1000m and there is always some wiggle room with that (like even if he was 2.20.5 they would be fine with it).
But how can you be the second pacer and get the doors blown off you by the first pacer?! He can't even run a 1.51.6? Even worse was that he managed to separate the main field from the pacing by simply getting in the way. Been a long time since I've seen that in a meet of Zurichs calibre.

We hope you are recovered from Worlds as an incredible Weltklasse meet takes place on Thursday. It features Sha'Carri Richardson, Shericka Jackson, Noah Lyles, a 1500 with everyone not named Jakob Ingebrigtsen and a 5000 with...
