The list of those not selected. I have been very reliably informed that at least one athlete on the list has been told they are going. All strange .
Amber Anning and Ackera Nugent may not be from Arkansas—far from it, in fact—but they're all Razorback. The duo helped the Hogs win the 2023 NCAA Indoors tit...
"Laura Muir (Dundee Hawkhill) *coached by World Class Plan Endurance Performance Manager Steve Vernon and the wider WCP Endurance team at UK Athletics." It is certainly a matter of serendipity and happenstance that with the entire English-speaking coaching world to choose from, Muir has decided to keep it in house so the NGB can claim a truly essential and direct role in any further success.
Bigger picture, the first UKA World Class Lottery Funding bid in c 1997 had as its long term goal " To be the world's leading track and field nation". Sending a team to the world championships where the majority of individual events don't actually have a single selected athlete suggests this is still a work in progress although its comedic effect, at no expense to the Lottery funding pot, can be used currently.

One male field event entrant.
Whoever has responsibility needs removing forthwith.
Name and Shame.
Problem is that it is impossible to find out who is responsible.
Alex ran the standard two nights ago which was after the UKA cut-off of 23rd July, unfortunately for her.
She had the standard from August last year when she ran 1:59.76 at Commonwealths. So she had the standard in hand when she finished third at the British champs. UKA have used discretion to leave her off the team.
And just today, she ran the Olympic standard in a tiny meet with no crowd. She's clearly more consistent and in better shape than Boffey right now. UKA have dropped a bollock there.

There might be a second: Kenneth Ikeji should get selected once the WA invites go out next week. Though UKA could just choose to not bother because they're a bunch of incompetent morons with little idea of how to develop talent

The UK is a poor country now. They need to make these cuts. Tbf this athlete is very far from medal-potential, effectively a tourist. UKA doesn't support tourists.
How is the UK a 'poor country'? Compared to the rest of the world the UK is doing pretty well in my opinion. I would take a look at the rankings on Wikipedia.

I completely agree that it is terrible that UKA is not willing to take all those invited by WA to the champs.
However, this is not out of spite of because of bureaucracy. UKA is completely bankrupt. The organisation keeps having to be bailed out by the UK tax payer. They have closed their offices and sacked staff to try and stay afloat.
It is a sorry state of affairs, and completely due to mismanagement (athletics is very popular in the UK, 50k London Diamond League tickets were sold, more than any other DL). They also failed to renegotiate a TV deal with the BBC and are now PAYING the BBC to show the athletics on TV in the UK.
So I do understand why they are cutting costs, it's just very sad to be in this position.

It is not a matter of money.
UK Sport have they must concentrate on finalists etc and they they that a big team stops that as resources get spread.
Lina Neilsen, a w400 athlete, is ranked 27th in the world in her event. She just missed the standard by 0.06 but will be invited to Worlds under the ranking quota. Unfortunately, UK Athletics has already announced they will not bring her. With no other option to fund her own way to Budapest or seek funding from her club. Absolutely pathetic.
I'm confused, why isn't her sponsor or club funding her? Budapest is not far from the UK. I've seen flights for 100 euros. Sure there are other expenses, but a go fund me could surely fund her.
we set a higher standard than the worlds for our tax assisted athletes.
they dont meet it. they dont go. i dont waste money, it goes somewhere more efficient.
i dont see the problem, as a UKA member.
They aren't even being allowed to pay their own way! So your comment isn't relevant. If tax payer dollars were funding them, that would be one thing, but they are not. That is a fact.
Furious British athletes have accused the national federation of ‘stealing’ their chance to compete at next month’s World Championships, with UK Athletics set to rip up their invitations

What resources. If the anthlete pays their own way, and organizes everything as a private competitor what resources are they taking up?
