Umm.. the only black American president in history so far has no ancestor who was a slave in the Western Hemisphere. So in his case, it seems that not being enslaved in the Western Hemisphere benefitted his ancestors. And until we have a president who is a descendant of former slaves in the Western Hemisphere, I won't have to change this current assessment.
Okay, I see your point. But how did Obama find great success in this racist America? Does he have some virtue American Africans can learn from? Maybe the racist system is working after all, as long as everyone works hard and make wise decisions?
For those not bothered by this new mandate, can you go on record and say (in your opinion of course) what skills were actually learned and how slaves actually benefited from slavery?
Maybe you can explain to us all how a molestation victim benefits from being molested.
You’re not blind to the facetious, analogous nature of statement. It’s just that this one triggers you and the one on slavery does not.
People deal with the cards they are dealt with - some people due to life’s inequities and some people due to being unnecessary victims.
The skills “slaves gained” were trumped by the skills slaves were not able to gain and the daily torment and mental anguish. As a slave, there was retribution for those who attempted to become educated - no reading, no writing, no math, etc. What skills did they gain? Picking cotton? You can learn to pick cotton first day on the job as a 5 year old.
The textbooks are meant to erase the serious nature of slavery and pacify the needs of white nationalist. The net result from teaching about slavery with caveats is that invariably people will think that it wasn’t that bad.
As far as slaves staying with their owners, thats a BS defense. Firstly, slavery was chattel labor. And again - remember, slaves were not allowed to be educated.
So if they were “free to go” post slavery, but don’t know where to go, or how to do anything else, and the government is now forcing owners to pay them, that’s a big difference.
Also, even in today’s society, a lot prisoners who serve long prison sentences eventually become comfortable with their situation.
Back to victimization analogies that are equally as ridiculous as the slavery gained skills one:
A person who gets shot in the eye and loses their sight learns to use their other senses better. This is a fact. The persons other senses improve but they are still worse off and no one would ever try to pacify the ancestors of the shooters into thinking forced blindness wasn’t the worst thing they they could have ever endured by talking about how good a blind person’s sense of smell is.
Where is this proof, besides in your diseased liberal mind?
The real winners are the descendants of the slaves. They like to complain about their ancestors but the reality is they're enslavement made a much better life for the current generation. Would you rather be an Africa fighting another civil war or here in America We could be anything you want to be even president?

Pick up any textbook that is taught in middle school. Things like slavery, the Trail of Tears, get watered down. Kids first introduced to this don't need to hear all the nasty details, but as they get older they absolutely must be told THE FACTS of what took place during these historical events.

They won't answer this. They don't want specifics, they just want a general sense of "it wasn't that bad stop complaining"
46% of people of color voted for DeSantis including 19% of black men.
Uh...you know and we all know that is a damn lie. Why do white people love to lie on black people. You literally have been doing it ever since you stepped foot onto Africa.
In protest, blacks should move out of Florida in record numbers. Head to more accepting and welcoming places like Chicago, New Orleans, and Baltimore.
They will thrive in those places and not be held back due to the evil Florida government.
Letsrun never fails with some dumb ass post from some ignorant little white boy always thinking they know anything about black people and always trying to give advice based on their prejudiced racist views.
STFU and go back to overdosing and committing suicide
"Aside from that, how did you enjoy the show, Mrs. Lincoln"
How you can rationalize this is beyond me.
I don't have to rationalize anything. Slavery can be bad, but slaves could have been able to use the skills learned working on plantations for employment in post-abolition. These two things can be true at once.
That is the most ignorant comment I have ever heard. Ever.
Not a single slave ever said, they were glad they learned a skill due to them being a slave. Any skill they learned, they could have learned as a free person.

You white folks are amazingly racist.
Never made that claim. Are you liberals actually just psychotic?

They also learned survival and perseverance skills that helped them post-abolition.

Actually, us “white folks” ended slavery, so not sure why this is even a discussion? did blacks start or end slavery?

Do you seriously not understand why the “learned skills during slavery that helped them” thing bothers people? You don’t understand why that rubs people the wrong way?
