I don’t think anyone was at fault particularly. He probably felt crowded by sainsbury (which isn’t any kind of illegal to do) and it looks like he tripped on a cone or had to take a stutter step.
I think that the bigger problem is that Sainsbury looked like he was challenging for the win when the trip happened, as well as a couple others.

Horrible all around
Pretty sure that was because he had stumbled already. If that was because of getting cut in on or just being tired is hard to say from the angles we had.

From the angle we had it just looked like he stumbled on his own and Sainsbury wasn’t prepared to zig and plowed into him. Unfortunate all around.
Sainsbury and Kipyego had steam, I think it would’ve been a 3 man race to the line, but Kipyego clipped Heidesch and almost fell which made Sainsbury almost fall and they both lost all momentum.

I wouldn't blame kipyego for this. watch the replay at .5 speed.
holy crap Birnbaum. Please don't screw him up Jerry he's a legit prospect with those last lap wheels.
Burns and Birnbaum will basically have to carry Oregon on the track if nothing changes.
Hopefully the redshirt years this year payoff for the team since they have a bunch of frosh/soph guys; they looked abysmal this year with their limited team
Not exactly. Besides Burns and Birnbaum Echohawk has run a 4:01 mile and Watcke could also move up to the 1500. Runners who redshirted for various reasons are Cook, Palfrey and Harrison, all of whom are now under 3:40 for 1500. And there may be others. So Oregon will have a nice training group in the 1500/mile.

And this race was a dogfight to the line. Fernandez ran the same time on a solo mission...he was alone the last mile. Great race today. Unreal last 800m.
Heidesch pulls sh*t like this a lot. Watch how he pushed Birnbaum out into lane three at Drake Relays, or how he cut in front of him to the line at NXR, or his infamous shove at the Iowa state meet last year.
