I agree that it seems like a bad decision for Wiley to publicly side with the Johsnons and to speak against former athletes who were abused. I agree that it would have been in her best interest to get away from Huntington and the Johnsons after graduation. I understand why many followers of the sport would be skeptical about the legitimacy of the times run by Wiley and the "methods" that might have been used.
However, I still view Wiley as a victim. She appears to have been groomed from an early age by manipulative and evil coaches. After reading the police and news reports regarding the utter failure of the Johnsons and others in authority at HU, the issue of whether or not Wiley may or may not have used illegal substances is of small concern to me.
I hope that Wiley gets the help she needs to be free of this situation. I hope that those who had the ability to stop the abuse but didn't are held accountable for their actions. Perhaps if we imagined that a 15yo -19yo that we knew (a distant cousin, a niece of an acquaintance, etc.) were in this situation, we would be able to have more compassion for a young lady who likely has been mistreated for years.
I agree with your take, SVMBD. We can and should hold Wiley accountable for her actions, especially her actions as an adult, and also hold space for her to heal and understand that she's probably heavily manipulated.
Wade Robson one of Michael Jackson's many many victims spent years defending him before coming forward. It might take Addy a while to understand what happened to her too.
I'm just so frustrated with the adults around her. I just don't understand what her parents are doing here. I really hope someone cares, and wants to help.
How does he find girls so gullible? Seems to me he'd have to try his tactics ten times to get one to fall for it. Surely he would have built up a sleazy reputation before all this even occurred
Most reasonable people can simultaneously view her as a victim and have empathy, but also recognize that it is very likely she is / has doped as she turned down D1 to stay with a program involved in systemic doping.
The doping part of this story is grossly unfair to the rest of the NAIA athletes, they are victims too frankly.
It’s clear that many people in this thread are new to the situation. Before you continue the discussion, I highly encourage everyone to read the original court documents and police filings from 2020, as well as the documents from the more recent lawsuit. It’s a lot of reading (probably 100+ pages of gross court/police lingo), but you cannot comment on this situation without knowing the full background context.
Obviously massive disclaimer that they contain pretty disgusting and uncomfortable info, but I think it’s important to read. I guarantee 99% of the folks just learning about the situation are completely underestimating what actually took place.
Sure she has new coaches, but it's the same old things. Everyone knows HU is still cheating. The new coach coaches under the guise of "God put me here" and "they love Christ". Except the only talks about how much $ he's getting paid, how much scholarship budget he has, his course, his facilities...All built on broken women. HU will get their reward; it's just too bad they keep hurting people in the meantime.
One of my assistant ran against Josh and before he could even finish asking him why he took the job he started sputtering off his salary and other numbers. He understands that his job is to keep Addy happy and not ask questions when she disappears to the Johnson house while pleading ignorance and preaching.
The situation hasn't gotten better and all they've done is add more complicit adults that want to make themselves look better.
But she is competing at the highest level in college and the USATF. You all need to move on.
That doesn’t justify any of what she and the Johnsons are doing. Plenty of other collegiate athletes competing at an equally high or even higher level and are not involved in a doping scandal.
But you complaining to 10 people in this thread isn't productive. You seem to think that you will get things changed. My point was that she is clear to compete. She is as clear as Tuohy. She is as clear as Monson.
While the sex thing should have barred both Nick and Lauren from working at Huntington I'm not seeing the evidence for PEDs. The NAIA does say it does drug testing and high performing athletes would have been tested. The only injection with a name included in the free articles is Carnitor/L Carnitine which is legal in certain doses. Heck Mo Farah took it and UK Athletics statements say it's legal. So the evidence is very thin for PEDs.

This is the type of thing where if true then Safesport and USADA to be contacted.
(Though no one with common sense believed it) organizations thought they did their due diligence by firing Lauren Johnson. If this is true, they did not.
If you know anything close to the situation like this, you should contact both Safesport and USADA. It's been stupid to sit on the sidelines and watch these things happen from afar. If Addy is still I close contact with Nick and Lauren, her abusers, then authorities who can help her should know.
