No, they don't and the sooner you realize that, the easier it will be for you to accept this forum for what it is.

I hate most of the scum on here except the useful ones who share training wisdom.
When you stop using websites like this and social media you realise you never needed it in the first place.
Training advice? Very unlikely you will get it on here as the genuine fast runners left a long time ago.
Want to argue with middle aged / neckbeard / virgin losers / headcases? Letsrun.com fills that void.
There’s some smart dudes on here as well as neurotic/cynical but very smart that give a different take. I can appreciate that.
Then a bunch of nuts and incels which I try to ignore
There are quite a few evil people on here. The kind who want to kick others when they are down. Strange how a running forum attracts these types but it is probably due to the (lack of) moderation.

I think all forums do this. Its easy to take your frustration out on other people especially when you don't have to worry about consequences... unfortunately, a lot of people are continuing that behavior off line.
This forum is becoming more toxic, if that is even possible. Same for the internet and social media in general from what I have seen. It makes me wonder what the breaking point will be... probably people turning their weapons on themselves.
There’s too much censorship
It's always been toxic but now it is pathetic.

This forum is ****.
There were knowledgeable posters. Many who made interesting and informed posts.
Now it is absolute garbage and most threads are taken over by the same idiots such as Armstronglivs.

There has been a downward trend in attitude on the majority of forums. It isn't just letsrun. People are frustrated, angry, worried. Then that overflows into what they write. It's sad really. Look back at the '90s. Even the '00s. Things weren't like this. I sadly feel that might've been a golden age. Having said that, we're still living in the top 0.001% of all time really. Look at what the average US person has access to. Compared to say 2000 years ago, things are a lot better in a lot of respects.
I really don't think it's just here. I've noticed it elsewhere and was thinking about that the other day.
Yes, we all have access to unlimited knowledge. But Instead of taking advantage of that people are glued to 30 second clips of instant gratification on Netflix, YouTube, TikTok, instagram, …
'cause this forum is for losers.
People with a happy life don't go on internet forums.
Distance running is a selfish sport and attracts selfish people. Selfish people are generally unhappy.

This forum seems to attract naturally unhappy people.
They aren’t; the same 10 miserable posters make up ~50% of posts.

Running involves a lot of time and effort. It rewards self-involvement. There are a lot of things one can be doing instead of recovering from training, injury, or time actually spent running. The problem of course, is that in a unique way, running is fun.
When I started to date, most women were not the least bit impressed that I was a good to great runner. I would have been far more popular if I held a part-time job, bought a good car, and joined a frat. None of these activities fit in my running mindset, so while not an outcast, I was only always a little bit on the outside. I think all runners feel this way.
