While on the boys side, 10 of the last 12 finishers were from the South or Northeast (5 from both regions).
Midwest boys crushed. Placed 9 runners in top 17. Has any one region ever been this dominant at Footlocker (aka - Kinney, Eastbay, Champs)?
First, the Midwest is just a pretty strong region every year but second their schedule does not make runners pick between NXN and Champs unlike other regions such as Northeast and West and part of South. Many of the MW team at Champs ran NXN and it seems to happen every year.

As far as I know this year's Midwest boys is the most dominant performance ever by a region.
And this year's girls West region was probably the worst region ever.
The West needs to change their qualifying date. It occurs the same day as nxn. So the best are already running there. The leftover athletes that didn’t make nxn head out to try and qualify for Champs/Eastbay. Waters down the region.
As always the west is at a disadvantage due to scheduling... most of the CA kids have Section, State, FL qualifying(@MSAC), and FL finals on successive weeks, no one else has that ...
I know all you tough guys and girls out there think that's not an issue but, on average, it always is.
10th and only a sophomore, she will win next. Sadie will break Tuohy's mile record next year.
Alyssa Sauro is a sophomore and she was 9th. Moved well over the last lap. She won a big U18 mountain race in Europe last summer. She’s from Williamstown, West Virginia. What is up with West Virginia these days? Riggs and now this sophomore!

They can’t until California changes when they finish their season.
You are correct. But you are looking at it in the wrong way. Picking the guys who finished very high in one meet gives them only one direction to go in the other. How about guys like Benne Anderson? If you take the average place of the guys from both meets, you will find that it is surprisingly close.
if anyone does it'll be the girl from WV. real deal
Irene Riggs is more of a 3200 runner than a 1600 runner. Sadie Engelhardt has a better shot at the mile record.
Plus this is Rigg's last year in high school but Engelhardt has 3 years to break it.
agree on that point on the mile. On Champs next year, 5 underclasswomen beat Engelhardt this year and 5 more were close behind her, so a lot of returning competition on that.

The problem with going from top 5 NXN guys is that only one top 5 guy actually participated at Champs Sports. He was 4th at NXN and won Champs Sports by 11 seconds (which makes sense).

Sadie Engelhardt is great at 800 to 3200 but 5k is a stretch for her right now. Maybe she'll eventually become much better at the 5k than she is now, but I don't see her winning Champs in 2023 against Ellie Shea and some of the other top returning underclassmen.
