Edit to add, the OP probably doesn't know yet. Looks like the team will be selected July 31 to August 1, 2023 and announced on August 2nd. But from the list of current auto-qualifiers and the "next best" list it doesn't look good, unless I'm missing something.

I'm guessing about six minutes too slow, based on the list they have to work from. That's a bummer; I was/have been pulling for him.
I was the only one affected by the rule-change. If the first wording was a mistake, then it wouldn't have mattered if they already wanted me on the team. It’s hard to imagine that the same people who went through all the trouble of changing their rules just to avoid giving me automatic spot would choose to give me an at-large bid.
I think the time-obsession is pretty silly. The weather at the championship race this year was completely different and wind plays a huge role in championship tactics. If an organization does not respect the results of its own championship races, how can it expect its athletes to respect and participate in those races?
It struck me that the World 50km race is tomorrow in India, so I looked at the team roster. I think I see you on it, Washed-up Grad Student. If so, congratulations on the selection and good luck! Make the most of it!
