I think Desantis would have a much much better chance at flipping any of the near 50/50 states. His recent stunts hurt that, but I still think he’d yield the higher percentage of the moderate/independent vote than Trump or Biden which is essential in a race that if midterms reflect anything will be close. Trump has lost the popular vote two election cycles in a row, most of his endorsements flopped in midterms, he just isn’t as popular as the loud minority screaming “MA.GA, we miss Trump!!!” Make it seem like.

My personal opinion is that we need a level headed president right now, things are about to get bad. Even if I don’t agree with a decent deal of Desantis policy, he is easily more sound in thought than a candidate who cares about nothing but self image and glory, or one that probably should have retired 10 years ago.

This is exactly how I see it. It’s not Trump could run as an independent, it’s that he would. I’d bet money on that if he doesn’t get the nomination, which he probably won’t. I think he could take anywhere between 5-15% of Republican voters which would lose them the presidency for sure.

It’s partially the media’s fault, but also our two party system where the more extreme candidates who often get nominated by each party’s base are not the best candidates for the remaining 60% of the electorate. For a lot of people it’s like choosing between getting punched in the face or kicked in the nuts.

DeSantis is definitely scarier. He's like trump but can actually get stuff done because he is emotionally stable, unlike trump.

The way the candidates are chose in the primaries, Trump is a shoo-in. He's got 40% locked in. No one else is going to get that particularly considering it will be split amonst many.

I don't want Trump or anyone else extreme. I want a moderate that doesn't care about abortion, gender pronouns, or any of that garbage and concentrates on policies that are actually important.
