What I don't get is how Lauren Johnson could be okay with housing her husband's side piece(s). Even if she's bi-polar and does beat up on him, that doesn't extend to her going along with this. She has to be severely co-dependent and spineless to even just tolerate it, let alone be complicit in the selection and grooming.
I'm not a Christian, but I'm shocked how someone so deeply religious could continue to enable someone who goes against all of the principles of Christianity. Anyone with a modicum of common sense and independent thinking would disown Nick as soon as the allegations against him were proven true.
Christianity is not relevant when discussing good moral decisions. There's plenty of historical precedent of people hiding behind Christianity to get away with heinous crimes.
However, the Johnsons had a connection with a well documented polyamorous couple when they first landed in Oregon. Those names can be found in the articles. That couple has nothing to do with this situation. But there needs to be more information about what happened with the Johnsons and OTC.
This is far from the most significant issue with this story, but this also invalidates any of Addy Wiley’s accomplishments. She’s been working with a program that dopes since high school.

Right, I'm hoping someone reaches out to Pat Casey to get a full statement soon, whether it's Woods or one of the JoBros.
Are the plaintiffs still on the cross country team? Or, are they now making the accusations after the fact, so-to-speak? This is not to say that they aren't brave or that they are lying, but of course it would have been much better to take action right away. If they delayed because it may have made a disparate effect on their schooling, then a significant amount of reasonable doubt enters the picture, imo.
As for the those thinking that we must protect the children. Yes, I think just about every school needs to beef up in that regard! For Huntington, I think it would be warranted to suspend the Johnsons until guilt / innocence is determined. Otherwise, I think this is out in the open now so that everyone will have their eyes on it, right? Children are probably relatively safe their now (at least on par with, if not moreso, than any other place they'd be).
This first quote: you need to go take some serious time to look up the facts on victim reporting and realize that when a victim reports does not correlate with IF their report is factual.
However statements and beliefs like this impact factual reporting bc victims THINK they won't be believed bc of this type of dumb dumb thinking. So. In short. Stop talking like this, you are harming victims.
As to your second comment: omg. This place sounds like a literal horror show. It's the definition of an unsafe place.
What’s likelihood Lauren and said victim have stuck by Nick’s side to avoid being outed for using PED’s?
Both have a lot to lose.
One has credentials as a late bloomer who developed into a Olympic trials athlete and would probably like to climb the collegiate coaching ladder…the other left HS as one of the best ever and could potentially earn a nice income as a pro one day (though that’s seeming less and less like).
There’s definitely a lot of lies, manipulation, and deception taking place in this case…but the worst of it due to the hands of Nick.
Huntington is scheduled to race THIS FRIDAY at Bethel.
If I am the meet director, absolutely no way I am allowing them to compete right now.
If I am another team attending that meet, and they are coming, absolutely no way we are racing them right now. I’d find another meet, organize my own meet with other teams in the same boat, or just stay home before I’d have my program anywhere near Huntington.
It’s the end of the business day and not a single word from the administration or athletic department. Their silence screams guilty louder than they could imagine. Do they really think that ignoring it will make it go away?
The article is good. Hard to argue against the logic of the following:
What star runners say has happened at Huntington, what they say has been allowed to happen – what is happening, right now – is an ethical, moral and spiritual tragedy with very real, very young, very hurt victims. And all of those who were in charge at the school when this allegedly happened? They’re still employed at Huntington. The school president. The chief operating officer. The athletic director. The Board of Trustees.
They’re still there.
Coach goes to prison, so Huntington hired his wife
When you see that line in bold, it's like so obvious how this is wrong.
Originally, I was thinking the board likely viewed Lauren as a victim of Nick as well. And perhaps they still do. But last night when I read the police report and it stated she said she knew about his sex with athletes but didn't report it, I just couldn't understand how they could promote here.
And now it comes out they knew she was aware he was injecting runners with stuff?
Huntington should have cut bait with both Johnsons and not let Victim 1 enoll in the school. I get it, their coach committed a felony to go on a trip with Victim1 so they feel they owe her something, but letting her run for the school to either make amends to the wife or to still be close to Nick is crazy. And yes I know Victim 1 has recanted all of her statements to the Police report but for me her statements, combined with his are enough. If I was the prosecutors, I would have tried to charge the sex aspect of the case.
Alll of that being said, I think those of you calling for Nick to never have a job again (if he wants to work in lawn care, that's ok with me ) are going too far. The University did fire him and he served his legal punishment. Where they went wrong is in letting Victim 1 attend and not firing his wife as well.
hmmm., I happen to believe them. It is preferable for the reporting to happen right away, though, right with solid evidence? Do you disagree? It seems like the most dangerous times for potential future victims would be after the criminal (or predatory) behavior has begun and before it has been reported. Further, it's not about what one believes, it is about what can be proven. As it is, we have nutjob Nick and his deplorable past behavior coupled with current accusations (which, again, I happen to believe). I would like to see compelling proof / evidence or a confession to go along with the accusations, especially since several of the current team members appear to actively denying the veracity of the new accusations (when it would be so much easier and face-saving to simply remain silent). They would seem to have a better purview than all us, no? A victim should report because it is a crime and the truth. End of story. I understand that it is not so easy because of the violation that took place. That said, any and all victim(s) would be wise to understand that whether or not they are believed has absolutely NOTHING to do with whether or not they should. If it occurred, then they need to report it. The sooner the better. But, that's just my opinion (which I strongly hold). Do you feel they should instead take a poll to see what percentage of people will believe them before determining whether or not to report? And, if there is an anonymous poster on letsrun who thinks that false accusations have occurred in the past, then ah shucks, I guess we better not report it?!? That's dumb dumb type of non-thinking, imo. All this said, we are almost a full day since the accusations were made known, and we have yet (as far as I know) have any more come out. I'm not saying there won't be, or that the allegations aren't true even if there are no more that come out, but it would certainly cast a little more doubt (again, when there are other team members disputing the allegations). We have a whole system set up to, you know, find people innocent or guilty. It might not be as fun as the new social media insta-judgment method (that's all over it on one day but that flames out and does nothing productive about it the next day). But, I think it is still a good system, overall... probably the best that imperfect people can do. I hope the truth becomes definitively known, that all the bad actors are punished appropriately, and most importantly, that solid steps are taken to better protect children / people from abuse. I will continue to evaluate myself, and I ask the same of you.

Dudebro, I think people are intending that he never be hired as a coach in any capacity again. And he won't, as any half-competent HR department could google his name and come up with all this and more. No parent would let their kid within a half mile of this guy now that all of this is attached to his name. Most any other employer won't let him into any position of responsibility when they see evidence of his psyche that can drive him to felonious behavior. He may have to go the Kevin Hadsell way and be self-employed for a decade or two. That is, after time served. Frankly, it wouldn't surprise me to see him take the Epstein route.
There has been very credible, well substantiated accusations of intolerable behavior. This after the coach admitted very similar behavior already. The only responsible thing for the university to do is to cut all ties with the Johnsons and any athlete that continues to be coached by them.
