You always show how little you know about the sport while putting other people down who have a wealth of knowledge to base opinions on. About 35 women in history have hit the mark.Nearly every one of them had run significantly faster than 15:00 by age 20. The data indicates that Tuohy has a very slight chance of becoming elite. Those are facts. Facts shouldn't upset you. Enjoy her NCAA ride. It is a good one. It may come to and end though now that a faster high schooler has arrived in the NCAA.
Silliness. Schweizer, Cranny, Simpson - none of them hit sub15 by 20. I don't even think Kipyego hit sub 15 before age 20. According to the NCAA all time lists, only one person hit sub 15 while in NCAA, in season or out, Lisa Koll. And she was older than 20 at the time. Last I checked, Shweizer is on your list of women who have run sub 14:30.

You are just trying to troll, 0/10
I literally dont know how he can write that without face palming himself.

The data: those in bold are national records
4:58 mile as a 7th grader 4:24 1500m as an 8th grader 15:37 i5000m as a 15 yr old 4:33 mile & 9:47 3200m as a 16 yr old 9:01 3000m as a 17 yr old 4:12 1500m as an 18 yr old (post knee surgery) 8:54 3000m as a 19 yr old 4:06 1500m & 15:14 5000m & NCAA Champion at 20 yrs old
the only thing the data indicates is that tuohy is a generational talent, got knee surgery and then won two ncaa titles the next year and the fact that she was able to run faster after maturing to a different type body says that she's not going anywhere but up!
so many runners before natalie cook has received the hype of "shes better than tuohy" and yet none of them are
4:06 is probably close to her max potential given her shorter PR's but has high max VO2 which reflects better for longer distances as well as being a manifestation of running high mileage for a number of years in contrast to Natalie Cook
It is probably more a question at what age these runners started running or doing other aerobic sports competitively, i.e. the number of years they have been running and the demands of the hs program in terms of training. FM and Saratoga are high mileage/demanding programs and have great hs performance but few ever make it to elite professional level
Facts always upset you. Take a few minutes and review those women's progression and you will nearly everyone of them had broken 15 minutes by age 20. You didn't even know that Schweizer is a sub 14:30 runner.
Heard she was training around 70-80 mpw in hs--double Cook's mileage--is that a very high ceiling:
KT maxed out at about 60 mpw. I would actually feel better about Cook's pro prospects if she had been able to do big miles in HS. But maybe she has cracked the code for elite performance on low miles. I really hope it works out and she writes a book revealing her secrets.
In distance running the only code breaker that does this is PEDS. Chemistry is what drives the sport professionally and is at the heart of our professional "late blooming" runners with their sudden post-college improvements.Think of Shelby without PEDs. She would have been just a halfway decent college runner. But with them she qualifies for the Olympics and ran in the 14:20s. Her "talent" was purchased in a bottle. You can substitute her name for numerous others. Mules transformed into thoroughbreds.
Yea I know and I'm pretty sure the fact that Katelyn Tuohy is the only American female distance runner that ran 15:14 and 4:06 at 20 years old is upsetting to you~
