I'm below average (3 or 4) & ultra-short (a tad under 5-6). I have a good income, own a townhome & have a decent ride but nothing like the typical LRC high six-figure earningers here with the mansions, expensive rides & super model wives/GFs. Lol. So, I don't have the money angle to leverage my deficiencies in height & looks (but if I was loaded, I would just be attracting the gold diggers 😆). I have a muscular, aesthetic physique from years of lifting but that seems to be the key attraction attribute generating interest from these obese women.
I'm not saying obese women are beneath me. I pointing out there would be a major conflict of interest in forming a relationship with them. I have strict eating habits, work out 7 days a week including both lifting & running - a lot of discipline in my lifestyle. These women are not on the same page with me. Many are not interested in losing weight & making dramatic lifestyle changes. I don't have any respect for them. Some of these gals outweigh me by 30-40 lbs & I'm not exactly a small guy weighing in @ 175 lbs (~15% BF). I'm going to be working out & excercising while they're sitting around & eating. Lol. It's only a friend zone for you if you're attracted to her and she's not attracted to you. What you need is a woman you're not attracted to, unfortunately. Then it won't be a friendzone (for you) because you won't care if she "leaves you" because you were never that into her in the first place. Or in the more common situation, you're not attracted to her but like some other things about her and you get along well. Then you'll understand what a lot of women experience. You'll understand how a person acts when they are not they are not that attracted to you because you'll be acting that way. And then you'll know. I thought 80/20 came from some okcupid data which indicated that the top 20% of men are receiving virtually all of the attention on dating apps. The bottom 80% of men find it very hard to get dates and even harder to get sex. The top 20% of men are able to have quite a lot of dates and sex, as long as their preferences aren't too restrictive.
Obviously the number of men and women in heterosexual relationships will always be equal. But the distribution of heterosexual sex outside of relationships can be different for men and women.
Men tend to be more keen on hookups, as they are much more likely to be satisfying and safe for them. So a lot of attractive men choose to have a lot of hookups (many less attractive men would like to have hookups but rarely or never have the opportunity). Whereas women tend to set a much higher bar for attractiveness and so just have an occasional hookup. But a much higher proportion of women have the option of having hookups, even with those "top 20%" men.
It's probably also worth noting the blurred line between hookups and relationships. Men who want sex often find they are more successful by presenting themselves as wanting a relationship. As a result, people can often think they may be starting a relationship, but actually they are just having a few hookups.
You pose an important question. There are real answers, but they are waaaayyy beyond the tolerance level of this board. The increasing number of voluntary and involuntary male incels will continue apace and no amount of female complaining of shaming will reverse it. This has real civilizational impact too, as society needs men to do actual, real work like... plumbing, construction, sewer maintenance, garbage collection, welding, building and maintaining electricity grids, tech innovation, search and rescue, most agriculture, etc. To put it as delicately as possible, men will only do those jobs for a carrot or to avoid a stick.
