Freshman boy out of Texas opened under 15:30. Don’t know course well enough to comment. Think there’s your answer to fastest. At least so far. Regarding Jaden Merrick lots of self hype I take his results with a grain of salt and his self promoting comments about his unrecognized world records. There are plenty good kids this year bad thing about cross is times don’t matter much when comparing. Courses are all different. Only true comparison is headed to head or Track. Good coaches are telling kids to race for place in cross country.

It’s also worth noting that he didn’t start running until last track season when he was only doing 800s. He’s a basketball player also.

Plenty of documented times from track nationals in 1500, 1600, 3000k to cross country nationals on Jaden Merrick. Hasn’t slowed down, actually has shown good constant gains last few years. But i agree I’ve never understood comparing cross country times unless it’s same course same day. We have courses in our state that very by over a minute if conditions are good. Even hard to compare track times unless same track same day. Best comparison is head to head. Hopefully some of these freshman from across the country end up at same race

Woodbury MN has 2 freshmen on varsity:
Colton Christenson - ran a 16:47 5K last year but did not race today
Parker Pietruszewski - ran a 17:46 this year at the opener.

These guys are gonna help Weddington become the #1 team in the Southeast senior year.I expect the first 3 freshmen to improve a lot Meet by meet. Cause their top 2 (seniors) could be top 10 at the state meet and those freshmen will be key for Weddington to do well.

No. That is just milesplit saying it was short. It was 3.05.

Where did you get that information from, it definitely was not 2.5 miles. The other top runners there where all right around the previous times. 2.5 miles would have resulted in low 13’s high 12’s for front runners.

Milesplit. But they aren't really saying 2.5. That is their way of getting it out of 5k database.
