I’m not sure why in most cases, but in this instance it could be for weather reasons. Could be warm. Could be hot. So earlier the better. As someone else mentioned, they’re not gonna pack the stadium at 8 am. Even the womens 10k was empty. Not a lot of people at these games. Within 2 minutes after the 100m final, the stadium was cleared out and there were still field events and ceremonies happening.
They used to run championship marathons at night, it worked just fine
Don’t be pedantic. If you remember (you don’t) it was pretty hot last summer in Eugene. That heat sustains for hours after sundown because of the concrete. So settle down, buddy. It’s too early for you to be obnoxious. Safe than sorry.
Hard to find anything to complain about. They've been hauling ass for the last 10k+ and winning time will be very fast. All 3 Americans are still there. And the crowds are GREAT!
been a fan of Bat for years. Great to see near the end of his career he’s getting some LRC love. I think he ran 2:08 last year or in 2020. Still a great runner. Better than every American not named Rupp.
I've always liked Ochir as well. He ran in that amazing 2008 Olympic marathon, finishing 52nd in 2:24.
Reminds me of the Mohawk-Hudson or Wineglass marathon. Lots of nothing. Sparse spectators. Great training run. Really poor for a championship style race.
