David, you are an inspiration. 3:46 down Bancroft is quite an accomplishment, wish I had thought of that 20 years ago. You did it, man! I still run a downhill stretch in Eugene about twice a month--sometimes 1200 meters, others 1600...it serves as a leg quickener and a confidence booster for this old man. We'd love to see you run a sub 4 mile at Hayward (the Oregon Twilight on May 6th)?

Here's what I don't get. There is a USATF certified 1 mile downhill race in Golden Gate Park this weekend. Why didn't you just run that? Too easy? Can't make it over the bridge? Do that and then the sub 4 will be documented for generations, despite the backdoor approach to breaking the barrier.
If you worked for IAAF then you'd know that this guy is the new world record holder.

my friend finished uploading the downhill mile onto
so if you search for \"Miracle Mile\" it should come up. I guess he called it that because it\'s the only way I would ever run a 3:46 on a real track.
I wanted to edit it better and add some warming-up footage but I won\'t have time, so the godfather just did it himself. Maybe during the break I\'ll put up the better version, but knowing everybody\'s attention span (including my own) I\'m sure no one will care by that point.
Oh and the 1600m time trial is also on google videos as well and it loads a LOT better than the previous link I put up. For that one just search \"Fat 1600m\".

I would have run that but I'm going home to L.A. for the holidays. And plus I didn't hear about it until you just told me about it.
And also, I'm not claiming to be a sub-4 minute miler. I don't care about the legitimacy of it. I don't care if the course I ran was 100 yds short or a 100yds long. I was just trying to have fun, and share it with everybody else.
Not ragging on you, I just kept reading through the thread, and once you were outed as a Bay Area guy I kept waiting to see a post suggesting the GGPark race. I see it as a tradeoff, the race would give it some legitimacy since it is a certified course, but your attempt was more of an adventure. Glad it worked out.

Can't believe how many mean-spirited losers inhabit this board. Looks like you had a blast. My running friends and I really liked the video-- it's really tacky, but that gives it a sort of bootleg charm. Reality TV meets once a runner or something like that.
I'm putting it on my short list of motivational material for my upcoming indoor track races.
Easily the best horrible video I've seen in a long time.
The Rocky theme helps as does the occasional vulgarity.
