TUOHY will break the NCAA 5K RECORD at USAs!!!

Touhy already is a great runner and the discussion is whether can become a world class middle distance runner. So far, she hasn’t shown the top-end speed needed to do so.

Exactly the same thing I was thinking. Guys who have been wrong about every past prediction are again so certain that their latest barrier is the insurmountable one!

Most of us have been making sound predictions for a very long time. The few of you who are emotionally attached to one runner seem to lose your mind when a handful of people predict that other fast runners will get faster. You act like there are thousands of people on this site predicting a bunch of people will break records. Some of us predicting Schweizer's rise and Houlihan's success and Purrier's improvement. Had they been the same age as Tuohy, you would have lost your mind. The one thing that all of thetop Americans have in common is that they were slower than Tuohy in high school and made much larger improvements than her after. This fact does not bode well for her future as a world class runner.

Interesting that you talk about sound predictions while using an anonymous name and oblivious to the fact that people have been betting against 2e for like 5 years now and they have been wrong every step of the way!

There’s a difference between improving fitness and improving top-end speed. She should continue to improve at 5000m, but she she’s not going to be making U.S. teams in the 1500m

Yet I noticed you didn't respond when I pointed out the college times of the top US 1500 runners. Oh well.

We’re discussing her prospects at USATF and her times don’t matchup in either the 1500m or the 5000m.

Nico Young’s story and his strengths as a distance runner are almost identical to Touhy’s and I don’t see anyone predicting he’ll run 1:44/3:30.

Not what it seemed like we were discussing. Yes the pros are faster than her at the upcoming US championship. Who knew?

Also interesting, if it's true that there are so many great prognosticators, that there were so many wrong predictions for women's NCAA 5K

There was a ton of other people predicting everybody but them. In retrospect it was a no-brainer as they were obviously the best two runners at regionals and like you said not much is going to change in a couple of weeks

Mercy was doubling and would have been in the mix if she hadn't run and won the 10K but we knew that ahead of time so... Didn't hear a whole lot of people saying the obvious thing that 2e and valby would win with ease... I said it in about five posts

Does anybody know who is going to be even running the 1500

I'd imagine Sweitzer is not! So that only really leaves three runners that are significantly better. I'm not saying that she'll beat the other runners I'm just saying they're obviously not on another level as I bet they got all those times running with pacers

If you are realistic about it she has a good chance to compete with anyone outside of the top three runners who might be running

Shelby Houlihan set the 1500 American record in 2019 running 3:54.99. That summer she also ran her PR in the 800 running 1:59.92. Did I mention that Houlihan used drugs?

So no, Tuohy will not be breaking 2 minutes in the 800. (Unless she uses drugs, which I'm guessing that she won't do.)

Anyway what I posted was from last year's Olympic trials. Then the 5K was really slow. The 1500 was faster but still you can see that if you peek at the right time even someone without crazy PR is going to be competitive... I'd imagine Schweitzer and coburn will not run the 15
