I think both men's and women's 200m are the deepest they've been in a long time, if not ever.

Let's take the men's 200m - in order of season's best:

Knighton - 19.49

Lyles (bye) - 19.60 at NYC

Kerley - 19.75* (Doha, +2.1)

I'd bet good $$ that's the top-3 at USATF.

Now we can debate whether Boling can catch Bednarek .. I say no. Coleman and Isiah Young are also running and easy sub-20.

Boling should make the final. He's fast and I can imagine him making the US team sometime in his career. Maybe he'll even be 4th and go this year. But I don't see him in the top 3 this year.

Lyles is only racing 200 and wanting to simulate rounds so he will look sharp. He and Knighton are taking 2 dominance personally so expect a show. Kerley isn’t losing to anyone else unless he is so focused on winning that he blows up which happens to the best. If he’s focused on making team he’s clear 3rd best. Lyles having pass to Worlds also means no pressure on that front so I think Noah wins it. Bolling will struggle to make final due to format of qualifying. Coleman not likely to actually run the 2.

Lyle, Knighton, Kerley are all on another level.

Coleman and Bednarek will beat him easily.

Elijah Hall is back in form and will surprise people and possibly make the team.

That leaves 2 spots to fight out with a number of talented sprinters who didn't have to go through the college season.
