I see what you did here Rojo with the 5,000 thing and the claims she “moved up.”
Intentionally ignoring the fact that Shelby moved up in 2016 and then quite suddenly moved back down in 2018 which is completely unusual, let alone in Jerry’s system.
I’ll lay it out again:
Shelby was a highly trained college and high school runner. She wasn’t doing 800m runner mileage ever in college. It rose from 40 mpw to 60+ mpw. Laura Muir runs less than that. Purrier was running roughly as much her senior year as Houlihan ran as a freshman. By senior year she was good, not great considering all that training and consistent health - 4:09/15:4x.
With Jerry she immediately started to show promise at 5,000 - this really doesn’t raise many eyebrows what she did in 2016-2017 becoming a 4:03/4:25 miler with 15:00 5k abilities with some upside (times run in finals not time trials). After a few years with Jerry good job and maybe she could get to 14:40 or even become a very good 10,000 runner. But 2018-2020 it went nuts and maybe more alarming was it was in the 1500. Suddenly she was running 3:57s with huge kicks to beat women she couldn’t touch a year before and going as fast as 3:54.9 in a breakthrough in ages 25-26 which is unusual to say the least for the 1500. Her 5,000 jumped all the way down to the 14:23 with a huge finish. All of this without the superspikes mind you. Not training with them either if you buy Grant Fisher’s training aid hypothesis. I know you like Jerry, but the red flags go high for this one.
