A Big Hunk O' Love: I ain't greedy baby All I want is all you got.
From a kinder and gentler generation:
"So let's leave it alone cause we can't see eye to eye
There ain't no good guy there ain't no bad guy
Theres only you and me and we just disagree"

Nice. The “got a cheerleader here wants to help with my paper...” bit might be my single favorite.
Another poster who almost definitely won’t read my post should know that DEAD FLOWERS is a Jagger/Richards song that was covered by Townes Van Zandt.
Speaking of Jagger/Richards, someone quoted Let it Bleed, but not my favorite part: “There will always be a space in my parking lot when you need a little coke and sympathy.”
Yet another Dylan line: “Don’t have the inclination to look back on any mistake/Like Cain I now behold this chain of events that I must break.”
Lots of good replies on this thread.
"We got the bubble headed
Bleached blonde
Comes on at five
She can tell you 'bout the plane crash
With a gleam in her eye
It's interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry"
How so very true...the media...as observed by Don Henley.
Henley, continued..
"Dirty little secrets
Dirty little lies
We got our dirty little fingers
In everybody's pie
We love to cut you down to size
We love dirty laundry
We can do the innuendo
We can dance and sing
When it's said and done
We haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king
Give us dirty laundry"

“Little old lady got mutilated late last night - werewolves of London again”
“That son of a b1tch Van Owen blew off Roland’s head”
“He took little Suzie to the junior prom, excitable boy they all said, and he raped her and killed her then he took her home, excitable boy they all said”
(Opening lines) “I went home with a waitress, the way I always do. How was I to know she was with the Russians too?”
“Loneliness and frustration
We both came down with an acute case
And when the lights came up at two
I caught a glimpse of you
And your face looked like something Death brought with him in his suitcase
Your pretty face, it looked so wasted
Another pretty face, devastated”
It's when you cry just a little
But you laugh in the middle that you've made it

We have a winner here.

And I’ll throw in another line from the same artist:
Send lawyers, guns and money. The s#it has hit the fan.

It must be so depressing to be a defeatist loser liberal. So negative about life.
great stuff alpha. Along those same lines....the US involvement in Central America....Henley also commenting..

They're pickin' up the prisoners
And puttin 'em in a pen
And all she wants to do is dance, dance
Rebels been rebels
Since I don't know when
And all she wants to do is dance
Molotov cocktail, the local drink
And all she wants to do is dance, dance
They mix 'em up right
In the kitchen sink
And all she wants to do is dance
Also big Dylan fan, so here are a couple of other great lines of his;
I gave her my heart, but she wanted my soul...
We always did feel the same
We just saw it from a different point of view
And we never failed at failing, it was the easiest thing to do

Yes, I’m very happy with the USA’s historical commitment to fight the spread of evil communism throughout the world.
That said, the “news” is worthless and is indeed nothing but dirty laundry. It’s a catchy song.
"Well they blew the horns
And the walls came down
They'd all been warned
And the walls came down
They stood there laughing
They're not laughing anymore
The walls came down"
-The Walls Came Down
Song by The Call
The last chorus is good, too:
"Well they blew the horns
And the walls came down
They'd all been warned
But the walls came down
I don't think there are any Russians
And there ain't no Yanks
Just corporate criminals
Playin' with tanks"
:
"Ashes of laughter
The ghost is clear
Why do the best things always disappear
Like Ophelia
Please darken my door"
Ophelia, lyrics by Robbie Robertson, as performed by The Band

Exactly. That's a Rolling Stones song.
