Rupp is an 8X US Champ 10k!
He has won 4 of the 6 Marathons he has completed. No American has finished within 45 seconds of a Marathon Rupp has completed.
When you look at the body of work from High School to today you can make the argument that he is the greatest American distance runner in history.

Rupp is in the midst of marathon training right now and doesn't need to be able to run a fast final 400.

Rupp can definitely still run 27-mid. He'll run north of 28 minutes if the race goes slow and then he'll finish 1-3 range. Could get outkicked by someone if it's slow.
Trials standard is 28-flat and this field is going to go after that. Knowing that, I'd be really surprised if he doesn't break 28:00 unless the pace lags in the back half.
I'm not convinced Rupp finishes in the top-3 if he runs the Trials in a heavy marathon block. Plenty of talented enough guys who would be tapered and ready to close hard. Again, see 2017.

You have an uncanny ability to be wrong at least as we can ascertain from your other posts. There is no chance that Galen will be running his final lap in 57. Galen is at a stage where even with the super spikes he is probably a 27:30 runner in a race with pacemakers and ideal conditions. Galen will run about 28 minutes, meaning between 27:50 and 28:10, assuming things go well.

I’ll admit I was wrong about the time. I assumed with Suguru they would be aiming for a faster time, but it appears they are both not tapering for this at all. Looks like the old teammates agreed to get out there for some really solid work. Wish I could go 28 mins for a rust buster.
That being said, this guy is still the real deal and absolutely a medal threat for the Olympic marathon. He most certainly is not “DONE”. Anyone who disagrees is just a hater.

Odds were not good, not a lot of eating humble pie.
Rupps performance is no surprise to me. He doesn't care about this "race." It is just another training run for him. He's done this before in marathon training. No surprise if you're paying attention. He is in great marathon shape. He doesn't care about a 10k. And lastly, I predicted his exact time and people called me stupid. But I'm used to it, I have idiots calling me an idiot all the time because I don't think (small minded) like them.

Rupp doesn’t run “bad” races. The reason? His training paces are faster than his American competitors’ PR paces. I’m not a Rupp fanboy, that is just the truth. There are NO legit contenders in the Olympic marathon without sub 27 potential during that calendar year.
