They CHOSE to peak for this time. Specifically because the qualifying was closed and re-opened on December 1. Hunter's goal was to hit the qualifying time, that was the only reason he raced. He FAILED.
Now he has to chase times while also trying to develop a kick so he can close the trials in sub 54 off a slow pace. Two very different goals. He could only muster 59 here, so he has much work to do. It will be a tall task.
don't be stupid. clearly a high quality meet can be set up anytime. since no men got the standard, there will be another few meets like this in the future. whether that's nike, adidas, sound, puma, or crocs putting on the race it makes no difference - someone will fill the void...and will consider timing based on the Trials. run this race, learn something, adapt, and go again. tons of prs, tons to be excited about in december.

People have run faster over the summer, I was just looking at in-season performances. I expect Teare to run faster this summer so we'll see how he compares to Jenkins 13:08. It's also not official as Teare was unattached.

Yes, because Covid and regulations around it are known for being predictable. You can't just set up (and most importantly PEAK FOR) a 13:15 race at the drop of a hat. There will be a very select few races running this fast prior to the trials. I hope Tinman knows what he's doing...

I am OBSESSED with RUNNING. Drew Hunter is a pro RUNNER. Of course I have opinions on how he should be running. It's not my fault you have minimal interest in the sport. I don't WANT Drew Hunter to think about me. That would be weird.

the sad thing is, tinman doesn’t know what he’s doing. i love drew and i root for him every time but he can’t close a race. he doesn’t know how to get drew to close a race. it’s a huge problem that’s been plaguing drew for a couple years now and it hasn’t been fixed. until it’s fixed he won’t make any more teams

Drew's only job is to run. The college athletes have to balance school and training, they have limited resources for training and recovery, and they don't even get paid.
There is no excuse for Drew Hunter getting beat by them. His high school times were significantly faster than those 2 and they've already surpassed him.
I agree with what you're saying about Drew, but Luis and especially Cooper were also studs in high school.
Teare and Grijalva ran against each other many times in high school. It's cool to see the rivalry taken to another level. And it looks like there will be many races to come.
This was their last high school race. 4:01.92 in the mile for Teare and 4:02.64 for Luis.

What list are you looking at for this? I see 13:17 as American Collegiate record, but that's only including in-season races. Are you sure no one has run faster over the summer?
Slowinsky [13;11], McChesney [13;14 and 15] and Hall [13;15 or 15] have run faster in the summer.
