MORE impressive? Apparently you are not aware of how Ryan Hall set the current AR. It was essentially solo from the first couple of miles to the win. Rupp will have much more company with Osako.
Yea I'm quite aware of how Hall ran his 59:43, and I wasn't trying to denigrate Hall's effort, but rather how most races setup for fast times have a phalanx of pacers and/or wavelight on the track. So that is what I mean by "more impressive."
But, I'm a non apologetic Rupp fan who believes he is actually clean.
Rupp is WAY more clean than Hall. Just look at Hall now, clearly on steroids for lifting weights.

The rules are easy to follow. At least 4 finishers and open to two or more clubs. If he cannot do that then he did not set the AR. Even I have done races during this pandemic with more than 30 people and I don't have Nike resources.
Well, there's 4 people in the race currently. I'm sure everyone finishes.
I'm sure they checked the two club qualifier too.
So, relax.

Yeah, it's incredibly lame the lack of any coverage at all. They all obviously have phones. Film something! Say something!
FYI, I asked Pete Julian why it wasn't streamed and he said there's no reliable signal out there. He did say that Ian Dobson (Eugene Marathon director) bought some cell boosters to try to give updates. Obviously it would be great to have a stream, but I think they would have one if it was feasible to do so.
I understand no stream, but no updates at all? The meet director posted a video 30 minutes before the race started. You can obviously film things there and post them to instagram. Nick Willis followed the Michigan Half and posted a bunch of updates along the way.
Something! Anything! Not absolute silence with a few 5K splits

Lol. Rupp has had more help for his American record attempts than any other American distance runner in the history of the sport. Miss me with the "more impressive" bologna.
Looks like Tiernan and Engels are in the race, in addition to Osaka and Rupp.
Do we not have any letsrun poster out in Eugene that could snap a few photos along the way on this public path?
Where did that 5K Split come from? Are there any media accounts doing any kind of coverage?

At the end of the day, the guy still has to run the time. So yea, physio, shoes, whatever, he does have those advantages. But the still has to perform.

I didn't say otherwise. I called out the implication that his running the record with another Rupp-constructed "race" is somehow "more impressive". That's lunacy.

Certified and measured as required?
Chips to prove no corners were cut?
Full "event" video proof to be posted later?
Drug testing immediately after finishing?
Or, take it all on faith?

Both sides of your argument are stupid. Please stop clogging this thread with it. Let's just all agree you're both probably wrong
