I also agree. As much as I despise Trump, I think prosecuting a former President would be another bad precedent for something the US has avoided up to now. I think best to move on and try to restore our US democratic norms.
Wait, so we should let a cretin like trump drop the bar to the ground and pretend it didn't happen? Or are you agreeing he should be punished but not via open prosecution from Biden's admin? What if Biden's DOJ comes across or is provided with new information that undeniably is criminal evidence? Should they ignore or refer to other jurisdictions?
I think he'll probably be bankrupt or dead of a heart attack in a few years, in about the same time it would take to prosecute him. Producing him will only keep him in the news and rally his supporters. I'm ok with him fading from importance naturally and letting the Nation move on.
I do think we may need some added protections for our democracy after Trump, like we had the 22nd Amendment to set term limit after FDR, and 25th Amendment to clarify succession after JFK. I see our democracy more fragile now from what Trumpers have attempted. I'm terrified to think what might have happened if the GOP (my party) had control of the House and if more Senators were afraid to defy Trump.

Thought as a joke that Biden should nominate Hillary as AG. This is almost as good, though.
And if a vacancy on the SC comes up in the next four years, I wonder if Biden nominates him again.

And that also opens the D.C. appeals court seat for an appointment of a younger person by Biden. The much sought after court seat should remain center-left to moderate for the next 20-30 years. No hardcore, extremist, nutcases like Trump and McConnell for fudge packing the courts with.

How about Obama on the SCOTUS?

Because Merrick is 68 and Obama is 59. Obama tasking Clarence Thomas' seat would be quit something.

Barack or Michelle? I don' think you need to be an attorney to be AG but I also think they both surrendered their law licenses.

truthorfiction.com?
I'll go with fiction.
There is no such thing as a surrendered of a license to practice law. The license is retired to stop paying the renewal fees and lawyer insurance. It is far easier to reinstate a retired license that it is to reinstate a disbarred license, but even a disbarred lawyer can be reinstated and start paying fees and insurance to practice again.

Clammy Joe has her panties in a yuge, tight wad this morning. So tight that she can no longer breath.
I'm just trying to imagine how Mitch feels here.
The Trumpists have ruined his party and taken his job away.
Now he has to watch as kiddo Hawley takes the proven losing lessons of Trumpism and applies them in yet even more damaging ways to Mitch's beloved R party and R senate majority.
After Mitch begged him and the others not to do this.
Mitch could have a stroke here.
Trump rally blasting Y.M.C.A. as they march to the capitol to demand a coup. High comedy.
