" IF " UCLA did some leg work the should go all out to get the associate head coach ( sprints ) at a former Pac12 school that is also heading to the Big 10. Rumor that the head guy now putting all his scholarship money in the distances.
In my mythical mind, it’s a dream job. That’show much I loved running there. I live 45 minutes away and would apply to coach XC this fall as they’re likely not to have a coach for a few months but I am moving at end of summer .
But I’m curious how outsiders view an Ivy League director job.

I heard from friends who have Yale Athletic connections that pretty much the entire Yale coaching staff is being let go, on top of this “retirement”. So there may be a position for you yet

;-]---
UCLA has three sprint coaches they are about to interview. Two are women and one is male. No distance coaches. They are not considering anyone within. The new coach will come in and start over with a new staff. I know there are rumors about dropping cross country although I can’t confirm that, but wouldn’t be surprised.

So are you saying that Devin West will have to find ANOTHER school again?
yeah a kid who was at first round and a 19m shot putter, no one impactful for a mid major. They have 9 women and 5 men in the portal. Nothing to see here.

1 - he is being forced out but they are politely letting him "retire"
2 - they will make a diversity hire for director
3 - With the power 5 likely separating from the rest of the NCAA, this is a good opportunity but likely will not attract any big name coaches from top 20 NCAA teams.

What is a diversity hire? Coming from a white guy, sounds like a BS excuse for why white men aren't in charge of everything. Why should white males be the head coach of the most diverse sport when there are more women's programs than men.
Yale Track & Field hasn't been relevant for half a century. Pretty bad actually.
New Haven is a horrible city. High crime and high taxes.

Pay will be good, resources adequate, but I’m told Yale doesn’t help the track team much in admissions and that’s most of the game in the Ivy. Explains (at least partially) the poor level of the program--both men and women last at Ivy champs.
Possibly more than a coincidence that the Yale coach and the Tufts coach both announce leaving on the same day? He seems like a good potential fit.

This is many more on the portal than average and usually when I see this a program is being cut or a coach is leaving.
Hate to be the guy that asks about Jobs but... What jobs are open anyone have a running list?
Good question. This is what this thread has been known in the past to consistently do. Keep a running list of opening jobs. Also they would post who has filled openings and keep that updated at well.

There should be a portal thread where someone lists all portal athletes.
