According to a Pew poll the majority of adults who are Buddhist, Hindu, historically Black Protestant, Jewish, mainline Protestant, Muslim and Orthodox Christian faiths support legal abortion in all or most cases.
If someone like Sonia Sotomayor or Biden say they are Catholic, why shouldn't I believe them?
I didn't say we shouldn't discourage sex. We should recognize people are going to have sex. I am fine with discouraging it but be real. Or did you think Just say No was going to stop all drug use?
Note Screen Name is Bubble Fish on my other computer.
There is a fire at a fertility clinic. In one corner, there is a terrified little five-year-old girl. In the other, there is a container with 100 viable frozen embryos. You can only save one. Which do you save?
Most people recognize that 100 frozen embryos don't carry the rights of personhood that a 5 year old holds and would save the 5 year old. The people who hold life and rights of personhood begin at conception would save the frozen embryos.

But in America we have to respect the Catholic belief above allllll else because Establishment Clause? Wait what?
Are you just ignoring my question regarding financial and travel burden when Mississippi only had one abortion clinic prior to Dobbs? If you don’t know the answer, that’s fine. I just find it odd that the possibility of needing to travel a bit father would dissuade so many people from an abortion if they were already having to travel a great distance anyway. Id rather drive an extra hour or two than ram a coat hanger into my uterus, since it seems those are the only two options that you’re allowing.
Is the argument that things were already so bad for women in MS that the Roe overturn doesn't make it much worse, therefore it's ok? Interesting.
The argument is that people are treating the decision as if abortion is now illegal. It’s not. You can still get an abortion if you want one. 2:18 said poor people can’t because it cost money to travel. My question is: how were these poor people getting abortions under roe when their state only had 1 abortion clinic? Were they not traveling long distances then? The picture 2:18 is trying to paint is disingenuous, which is why he wouldn’t address that questions directly.
6 states had only 1 abortion clinic so I’m thinking people were already having to travel quite a bit for their abortions. Were poor people still investing in coat hangers during roe and no one cared, or is it just a talking point now to get an emotional response.
You would think that if there was so much debate about when life begins that it would be safer to err on the side of caution but that would mean people taking responsibility
I think decent human beings think the opposite and dummy puritans who make life worse for everybody are less than decent.

Because Biden openly supports an anti-Catholic position.

They were, and people cared. If you didn't know this, you were poorly informed.
While unsafe abortions have become rare in the United States, the practice persists. We present a 24-year-old female with a 21-week twin gestation who presented to the emergency department with complications of an attempted s...
Abortion restrictions and threats to access to comprehensive reproductive health care could be contributing toward the maternal mortality crisis in the United States.
In the past a candidate would run to the left (or right) in the primaries, then run to the middle in the general.
Not so much any more.
They will be running to the edges in the general. Democrats will surely be pointing to this ruling loudly and vociferously state protection of abortion in the general elections.
Will Republicans run loudly that they will ban abortions or will they deflect and talk about anything else when they campaign in the general?
What is the winning strategy for Republicans on this topic?

What do you mean deflect? Are the economy, gas prices, and Ukraine not big issues by themselves?
The winning strategy is sit back and watch Biden and the dems screw themselves over. This decision won’t have much of an impact. I’m sure some voters in Ohio and and other states might change their votes because of it, but when most middle class and low income Americans hit the voting booths, all they will think about is how much it cost to drive there.
Threads like this show why your country is going to come apart. A passionate commitment to utterly irreconcilable positions on matters of fundamental rights. It isn't confined to Roe v Wade but can be seen everywhere. Guns, race, gender, vaccines, masks, election results, religion - it goes on - you are effectively living in separate countries.

I’m not a a huge Biden fan, but I appreciate him for not trying to enforce his religious beliefs on the nation.
Politicians don’t have control over how the market moves gas prices and such.
But they can put in laws to either ban abortion (now) or protect a woman’s choice.
They will be voting for lawmakers.
I guess we are done talking then. I can’t teach you basic economic theory. Politicians 100% have an effect on the economy. Maybe you forgot about the Covid lockdowns and the effect they had on the supply chain.
I’m seeing ads for the primaries where the candidates are big on saying they will protect the right to have an abortion.
All the yelling is just that. The overwhelming majority of people are unlikely to change their party loyalty based on this one issue because they know it doesn’t make all that much of a difference in practice compared to other more pressing issues for them.

Do nothing to stir the pot.
The base is fine and knows nothing much has changed, and would be energized at seeing conservative virtue signals after years of what they saw as liberal waterboarding of their traditions.
