The Welsh Runner and his missus are both appalling people. How desperate are Huawei for wanting to link up with a person with such a small following , is literally 50/50 to even make the start line and who disappears when things go badly? How desperate is The Welsh Runner for money when he is abandoning a Garmin or Coros that actually works and does what you want and trading in for a Huawei which probably has appalling GPS and battery life?
Alfie's content is awful and I really doubt he makes enough from them to fund his running. RTJ content whether you like it or not is well put together and clearly created by him and not a production team unlike Yee, Sessman etc.
Manthorpe certainly hawks himself out to enough interviews on Z list podcasts thinking hes some big boss
As much as his content is dire, hes in a different league to most the team Makou runners and surely warrants having a sponsor? He lives in Manchester which is a poor, cheap area to live in but the only way hes surviving is off mummy & daddy or some inheritance funds dropping in. Does he have a proper job at all?
If he were on Team Makou, and allowed to keep training as he is, im sure he would be the top dog in the group. Although having to be coached by Hobdell and wear Hokas, he would be lucky to break 28mins again. Is New Balance Manchester still operating? You would think he would be an ideal candidate to get them up and running again as theyve died a death
proof? call him out on it if youve got any minerals about yourself
His Strava is back to saying "Coros Pace Pro" rather than Huwaei - He'd only delete the comment and disappear under his rock until his next "all in until i'm injured" series
Hardest geezer no olonger going for 2:30 a few weeks after calling out 'haters' for trying to explain to him that he is not fit enough to run sub 2:30
He has only adjusted the target to a 2:35 though which is entirely based of a dodgy v02 max test (similar to the one Goddard got me thinks). Looking forward to both of them attempting to run the pace that a random guy with a treadmill has told them they can run only to blow up spectacularly and make 20 posts about respecting the marathon.

Did you even watch the Valencia 10 k this year ?? Efrem Gidey (Team Makou) finished ahead of Alfie and Scott Beattie was only 1s behind him. Alfie is a strong runner but so are many members of the current Makou team

Respectfully, how can you have such volume of opinions, yet such little knowledge of this? 😂
Take 5 seconds and his Instagram bio. He’s sponsored by Represent, Nomio and he’s Head of Running at Marchon. At least 2/3 of those will be paid.
Plus he’s mentioned multiple times in posts he’s a Coros athlete, which for the content supplied will be paid at least.
Bar Rory, he’ll make what Hoka pay look like pittance.

He sold Trackstaa as well last year, not sure how much he would've got for that but probs a decent amount.
Also I'm pretty sure he's fairly close with the Represent guys, so probably is bringing in a decent chunk from them.
OMTIU is definitely based in Australia - You can click on the "About Account" on their page and it shows you. Must be a Brit living in Aus.
Take this with a huge grain of salt but some chatter I heard is it could be someone from the Unofficial Run Club in Sydney and that helped inspire the name. Although a quick look at their insta page and the members look very similar to the people they are calling out.

He seems to be based in Brighton now; I passed him once and started following him on Strava. Absolutely nothing in his training suggests he’s close to 2:35. All his marathon‑pace efforts are around 4:00–4:10 min/km. Honestly, I’d be surprised if he breaks 2:50. I think he's desperate to prove himself as a semi-decent hobby jogger.

Strava is bad enough for adverts without people posting cack like that too.
Your semi-regular reminder to hit the 'quote post' button if you're going to directly reply to someone and not actually name who you are talking about. This means other users don't have to trawl through previous pages to understand who your post refers to (in this case it was Welsh Runner).

Also, he'll be getting some support from England athletics / sport England (whoever it is that deals with the funding).
And by the way Batterseabummer, is getting support from 'mummy and daddy' really that bad when you're a dedicated elite level athlete with an outside shot at making a team for a major championship? Like, I get hating on influencers trying to sell the dream and grift their audience whilst living on the bank of mum & dad, but if my kid needed some support to help possibly make it as a pro, I'd 100% be helping.
I think he could run a low 2:4X if he sensibly paced it and also trained a bit smarter but he seems incapable of either of those things
It seems to be a very odd training regime from what i see on his Strava, just lots of long race pace runs and then smash a track session every few weeks. Very poor polarization.
He is a Runna athlete now and i wonder if he is actually using the Runna app by accident not realizing that all of their half decent athletes will completely ignore it and have proper coaches on the side telling them how to train.
McCarthy on a podcast today saying she only got scrutiny today because she’s a woman. Don’t think so. You’re just an entitled arrogant and self obsessed human who’s not doing anything to promote the sport.
It's fair - nobody has criticized any male runfluencers for their training choices and views of injuries. Fenton and RTJ are never discussed...
In reality I think she could have got a lot more criticism for how many hard long runs she was doing relative to her overall mileage alongside going out and making poor recovery choices; yet claiming that the cause was that Sydney is quite hilly...
Unlike fenton, RTJ and Hugo (who she mentions specifically in the clip) she is promoting a training app for monetary gain.
Bringing hugo into it is funny from her side too considering he says more or less weekly not to copy his training because its stupid

She's sort of unlucky in that she's catching a bit of flack for her association with Runna, although obviously she's willingly entered into a financial partnership with them so can't feel that bad for her. Obvious risk associating yourself with a brand that people start to see you and them as closely linked, then when you get the obvious thing that people criticise AI training apps for what do you expect?
As far as I can see from various bits around the various running sm (incl. the runna subreddit itself) the offering is getting worse as they try to scale up, and the actual coaching was pretty sketchy at best imo; so some of that dislike of the Runna coaching has been fed into her injury. Whether or not she's actually using the app to train with, if you're happy for them to pay for your business class travel to (just watch) Tokyo marathon you've got to accept the flak that comes with it when the chips are down.
You get a pretty well funded easy life, that's basically a career long gap year - training, partying, cafes and funded hotel stays and travel in return for selling yourself to whatever brands you can/want to - people criticising you for things that you have actually been doing wrong seems a fair deal for that imo. Just don't train like an idiot if you don't want criticism for training like an idiot when it leads to an injury.

Ironic choice of argument given her whole 'beat the boys' shtick is just some recycled Not Like the Other Girls rhetoric that conveniently dismisses all the other female competitors that run faster while being significantly less insufferable, because god forbid she not be the centre of attention at all times.
If this were about supporting women's running she might consider doing something actually useful, like a realistic assessment of risk factors and a bit of education on how others could prevent similar issues since they continue to disproportionately affect female athletes. When it comes down to it she'd rather protect her own ego, and i think the issue people are taking is that it feeds into an issue that's far bigger than her. Anyway sorry to get my panties in a twist but i'd love to see a few more women shoetubers that are capable of walking normally.

He’s actually good on shoe reviews as he’s not tied to a contract and doesn’t seem to kiss up to brands like he’s desperate to get one. Seeing people who used to be authentic tell you rubbish shoes are good is a bit of an eye roll.
Bester is about to start shilling Hauwei too. Saw this on his Strava "Testing out the new Huawei GT Runner 2 watch tomorrow". I have no doubt that like Welsh Runner he'll spend about a week (or however long is in the contract) telling us how amazing it is, then quietly return to using to a proper watch and never mention it again.
